(or at least some way to tell what the thread is about before clicking it)
All too often I've clicked on a thread only to find out it has nothing to do with me. "Has anyone else heard about this?" tells me nothing of the contents of the thread, neither does "Check this out!" I've clicked on a thread numerous times just today, only to find out it has nothing to do with me...numerous times. Can you guys think of some way to fix this slight annoyance? _________________

We can't force users to enter descriptive titles, and I don't think all the mods want to start moderating titles...
Believe me, I know why you're so annoyed . _________________

Well... we can if we want to. The question isn't can we, but should we? I don't think I'd mind if we made a new 1 point rule regarding this, but that might seem a bit too picky. _________________

I know it used to be a rule when we had the separate "netiquitte" page. We just didn't really enforce it unless one person did it over and over or it became too rampant. _________________

Actually, I'm for it because of the same reason we keep image size down for 56k'ers. They don't want to sit and wait for a thread that they don't know what it's about. It's a waste of everyone's time. _________________

I already edit titles if they're stupid and/or give out 1 point if people do it often.
Maybe I already am picky? _________________

I'm sure that enforcing this rule could cut down on bandwith costs. I know I've clicked on threads with extremely vague titles (something like "Did you ever notice...") more than once, and each time I open the thread, I realize "Oh, right. This thread" and close it. Multiply that by however many thousands of times this happens, and it begins to add up.
It's also really, really annoying. |

And then all the subsequent re-clickings from where you think "oh, what's this?" and see it's that same shitty thread you clicked before thirteen times. |

Oh, oh. What about when you KNOW you shouldn't be clicking the thread because you've clicked it before and you know it has nothing to do with you, but you click it anyway because you forgot what it was about and you might be wrong...only to be disappointed with the same thread that doesn't concern you. _________________

can we cut back on the amount of threads called the "official" / "unofficial"? I mean, in the NE forums every thread has it, and it just gets irritating. Especially when people write "official/unofficial" (see random chat) _________________
