Getting it about every 5 threads. Once when I tried to see the whole board. Sometimes, the refresh doesn't help either.

Yup, refresh definitly doesn't work. Refreshed 4 times for a post to go through. lol

Something is taking all of the database accesses at exactly the same time.

My web host allows 30 concurrent MySQL queries. Of course, most non-intensive queries run in less than a second (or within a few), so that's a doggy' server clog.

Either someone's running a bot to clog up all those open slots, or we just have that many users (maybe the server has is being over strained, so the query's are taking too long?), or something along those lines.

Superusers always have an open slot. But the ddrfreak phpBB user is just a normal user, so all these concurrent session are hitting hard.
