I'd probably skip the Para Para and instead go with something like IIDX or Pop'n Music, but it's your call. Mine's been sitting in my 'Bemani Bin' for about 6 months, completely unused. However, I never played in the arcade, so I didn't buy the controller with good memories of having a lot of fun with it. On getting your PS2 modded, I'd try either:

They're both totally reliable, and also located in California! It's probably the best way to get your PS2 modded, since doing the soldering yourself is kinda risky. Hope this helps.
