in ddr, does the crowds cheering and booing effect your play? for me, its almost inevitable that i will get an AA when they do. in itg, im not as good because no one cheers. are others this way, or am i just a pity whore? _________________

on the home versions, when the game does it, it is annoying, so i turned it off. i think a cheer would be great , and a boo would make be want to get violent with machine.
...as for gameplay, not affected(wouldn't be if i already do my best at the arcade, if the machine cheered...wouldn't make a difference...if machine boo'd, i'd wait until the song ended, then say to the machine, "you know what, i hayt yew."NO!!!! I DIDN'T MEAN IT!!!!!!!!
edited because i didnt know if you were talking about an actual crowd or not _________________

I'm pretty sure he means the in game voices such as "100 combo" or "I was almost Dazzled"; not an actual crowd of people. _________________

yeah i mean the in game cheer, because when most people do it that watch, either they are retarded and think that being able to put quarters in the machine without help is amazing, or they are scoffing because deep down inside, a little kid is crying because they cant do it. i hate when real people are like "nice try", then i want to eat them _________________

Any voice that comes from the DDR machine needs to have an option to be turned off because it's completely pointless and makes the game sound even stupider. _________________

^ Agreed.
I like the combo voices because it always get amazed when you get 500+ (which I've only done at home). But the cheering is loud and obnoxious, and some of the things the announcer says are really dumb. _________________

If you haven't blocked out those background noises in the game by now you haven't played long enough. _________________

Is it bothersome enough to actually affect gameplay? No. Is it still stupid? Yes. _________________

Actually, the applause can sometimes partially obscure the beat, at least for me. It happens in places where the beat or the music is very soft - for example, the beginning of Sandstorm on Max US. Once in a (rare) while, the applause will occur in a soft part of a song and hide the beat just enough for me to get a Great or two (this probably happens because I don't usually play visually).
IMO, the announcer and background sounds are pretty useless. I don't need a recorded voice to periodically yell my combo number at me. I'm glad ITG doesn't have an announcer, applause, etc.

I doubt that the absence or presence of the cheering sound has a noticeable effect on your playing ability. Could your performance in ITG be worse because the timing is more strict and the songs are more difficult? _________________

Exactly. When I first played DDR I was fascinated by the boos and cheers. Now I never really notice, though in SuperNOVA, I will listen to see if the announcer has anything new to say. Doesn't affect my gameplay at all, though I still enjoy it. _________________

Totally agreed.
I mostly find them annoying on the home version.
But only because im too lazy to turn it off.
In the arcade i don't think it's much different then the public noise. _________________
