This is a really difficult question to pose without people thinking I'm trolling or kidding around. Has ITG PS2 ben re-released at some point I didn't know about? The reason I asked is that I noticed something really strange about mine. I unlocked Edit mode! Just kidding.
In all seriousness, though, I could have sworn that Charlene and Rom-eo & Julie8 were censored more. For example, on my version, the word "drugs" is distorted (a weird double-echo sound is added), but the phrases "dark side" and "sex" are completely uncensored. While on Rom-eo and Julie8, the line "I am a sexy robot" - or whatever it is - is untouched. Was I wrong about those things being censored? Because I could have sworn they were.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have an UNcensored version (Land of the Rising Sun is still missing the "land of zen/sin" and "bikini lines" parts), but did RedOctane release a less censored version behind the ESRB's backs or something?
(Edit: Corrected the hyphens on Rom-eo & Julie8.) _________________

That's a very good question because my ITG PS2 copy has no censors of anything on it. I'm not making this up. _________________

1) When did you buy it?
2) What rating do you have on the game box?
There was something a long time ago where the ESRB listed two hits for ITG.
ITG - E
ITG - E10
Presumably, you have E10, double check for us? _________________

Ok... now I want to return my copy to Redoctane to get one where "PA Theme" doesn't sound like Stephen Hawking did DJ record blending. _________________

Remember that tournament in Colorado Springs (Joyrides) that Steve hosted, Jason? That's where I got it, along with that Ignition pad.
Yeah, it's really strange that some versions seem to be censored differently (or, in SearchingforAAA's case, not at all).
I actually don't know the lyrics to PA Theme (yes, I feel bad about that), but I didn't really notice any blatant censorship. I'll look up the lyrics and then I'll play it again when I get back home. I've only played through it a few times (I'm working on my 11s and 12s right now), but I'll take a look and let you know next time I get to the library. _________________

this is very interesting. hopefully its also a sign that roxor/redoctane wont be so damn paranoid next time around. i got my copy when it first came out, so mine was quite obviously one of the ones with a retarded amount of censorship. |

Gah!!!!
Oh, and gravy99
It's not Red Octane/Roxor's fault.
Blame the ESRB (and the newly founded E10 rating). _________________

I'll agree with you on the not being Roxor's fault.
However, Red Octane didn't have to shoot for an E rating--T would have fit squarely in the primary demographic. _________________

i c, i was under the impression that roxor had some say in the developing process for the PS2 release, and i must agree with Shinmizu, considering most of the ITG demographic is teens and the younger players tend to be attracted to DDR. Another point i thought about was this, since the new Harry Potter movie is PG-13, how many people will actually pay attention? im sure that the same following will watch it regardless, so why not use the same tactic and let ITG be uncensored?
PS: im sorry if this makes no sense whatsoever, im very zoned out at the moment |

They're trying to incorporate ITG into primary school classrooms. That's why they censored everything to pieces.

SirOrion, you can go download the torrent (I'm not going to tell you where, but it's not difficult to find). It's actually not illegal either, because you bought the game. |

I believe that you're wrong there. I could be wrong, but do you own the rights to the music on that disc? no. You own the rights to play the music on the disc in the manner that it was originally intended for you to do so. Even if you own a cd, downloading it from the intarweb is not legal. You can put it on your Computer directly from the cd, but in technicality you can't put it on your computer from anything but the copy of the cd you own.
Now, If I'm wrong, someone call BS and I'll STFU!
But anyways, my copy of the game doesn't seem censored. It is not E10, but it still doesn't seem to be butchered as many people represented it. I can clearly make out "dark side" in Charlene, as well as the naked on the floor section of Torn, both of which I remember being on the censor list. Could we have a list of the parts actually censored posted? That would seem to help a lot. |

Braintrust, here is a quick test: Play Land of the Rising Sun. After the second time the chorus plays (after the "Aw!" at about 1:00 into the song), is the first line "Weather's so high, I'm feeling so bold", or is it "Bikini lines and bedroom toys"?
If it's the first one, it's censored. I would like to add that the line "Weather's so high, I'm feeling so bold" is the 3rd line after the "Aw!", and in the censored version it's used to cover up the bikini-lines line, so in the cesnored version it's played twice.
I hope I made sense with that post, I had a struggle with wording it. |

I have the censored version! Anyways, I guess some of the items listed as censored in the thread forever ago weren't actually censored. |

You probably just aren't noticing the censors. |

depends on lots of stuff really
now before the DMCA we had these things called fair use
fair use was just that
stuff taht we could do with stuff we bought (such as archival or back up copies of software lending or reselling stuff we didnt want and privet performancing of movies in outr own home for no fee dirrectly related to the movie or audio recording)
now post DMCA we havce had some of these right sstripped away the question though is whos rights are more important and i belive the rights of the roup that can exist without the other group are the more important _________________

Sorry about the week it's taken me to reply again. I should mention once again that I'm on a library computer so...
Anyway, you have to pay more attention, Houou. I specifically said in the very first post that Land of the Rising Sun was indeed censored, but other songs like Charlene weren't censored as badly. As a matter of fact, I said right out that my version was not UNcensored by any stretch of the imagination.
Anyway, it looks like they left PA Theme alone on this one, because I sat down and read the lyrics while listening to the song in Practice Mode, and nothing seemed different. And I suppose if they were going to get rid of something, they would have changed the part about "ownz your azz," toward the middle of the song.
I suppose it doesn't really matter all that much to me, considering that PA Theme is only a 6 on Hard and has no Expert steps; so I probably won't play it all that much anyway. _________________

That part was actually unchanged. Apparently 'ass' isn't a bad word, but 'dark' is. |
