As a couple of people have said already, you should get Stepmania and either a USB pad or a converter. Just make sure you get the right kind of converter, because an el cheapo isn't going to read directional buttons as individual buttons, meaning no lr/ud/hand plants. Get a good converter, get Stepmania, enjoy.

just get a BNS DX sparkle or fusion. they're fine for everything you do in DDR...the only problem is stuff on ITG thats like a 12....which i can't do anyway even at the arcade.

but really, the BNS are better than the cobalt fluxes imo. they're more sensitive, work on PS2, Xbox, and PC without adapters, you can actually feel where the arrows are, and they're just great pads. flatfooting on a cobalt flux is way ackward. you can get em for about $80 after shipping, and really, they work great. and my pad came in like 5 days as well.

I already have Stepmania; so you're saying all I really need to do is just get this and it'll come with a USB port or adapter? That sounds too good to be true. Well, i'll do some research on that.

Since the computer's upstairs in another room, there will be stomping. Plus, it'll be weird because there are two computers in the room which one my brother currently resides at. Anyway.. 80 bucks after shipping.. sounds nice.

Now I might have the cash, but its not like I can just walk into the local GameStop and just ask for a pad like this; i'll probably have to order online. How am I gonna get a credit card or something like that to pay for it?

PayPal for the epic win.

All you need is a bank account and an internet.

Yes... if you know this little about how credit cards and bank accounts work, you need to take a break from videogames and join the real world every once in a while.

If you're under 18, you should ask your parents to take you to the bank to register a checkings or savings account. If you're over 18, you should already have one, but basically, just go to the bank of your choice, tell them you'd like to open up an account with them, then they'll guide you through the rest.

You will need to have enough money to make a significant initial deposit (no less than $50) and you will also need identification. Dress nicely and present yourself as a responsible individual, and make sure you understand all fees before opening the account.

You should get an ATM, debit, or credit card mailed to you shortly after opening the account, and you can use that in association with your paypal account.

Welcome to life. Yes, life is money, but money is NOT life. Never make that mistake, or you will suck. (that last bit has nothing to do with anything, just general advice)

I'm alot like you, But for me.. Stepmania and home DDR just wasn't cutting it, I even bought a nice arcade like home pad, and setup my TV just like it.. it just didn't help.

so I got a job, Sold the pad, and used all of that money to go to the arcade.

Cut grass, pick-up trash, anything. I am sure you'll find something

If I were you don't worry about getting a bar with your pad. I my parents old kitchen table (I play in a basment). Both my pads came to $250 with shipping so it's very affordable. Also I suggest save r a PS3 and just do without some things for a while...mooch off your parents PS2's for a bit and play at the arcade from time to time. Also a job is necessary because I don't see you getting anything without some cash-flow. Also buy ITG...much better than DDR ;)
