Because if you actually look at the news article it's dated pretty recently?
I don't think DDI has it's own Stepmania theme.

Look @ the screens in http://news.com.com/2300-1043_3-6188872-2.html?tag=ne.gall.pg .. With those black and yellow stripes around the score display and the life meter looking kinda like a tachometer, that's either a Stepmania theme, or a custom build of Stepmania.

Can't tell for sure which one it is, but if it's public, and it probably is, it should be there somewhere.
