It is for the computer. You use it to play SM on the Flux. _________________

Actually, it's just an extension cable for the control box. |

For sure, I am getting a Flux sometime soon. One question, however. I heard that the base of the pad can crack if you play on carpet, and the bottom can get messed up.
My carpet is actually relatively hard. If you take your fist and slam down, you can feel the hard ground underneath. I'd say it's about 1/2 an inch thick and is pretty hard. Would I have to worry about my pad? I want to extend the life of my pad to as long as I can, so pre-mods before I order would be good to know. Thanks in advance. |

If you can push your thumb into it without too much difficulty, you probably wouldn't want to risk it. _________________

i would buy some strong plywood, brackets, and build an extra base for your flux, if you are getting 2 this would be good so you could play doubles _________________

If it's hard carpet, don't worry about it. _________________

Yeah, looking at it, it seems similar to the rug that I have my CF on (It's more a "mat" than a "carpet" per se). You should be fine. _________________

|
|
Hi I have a few questions about the arcade style mod for CFs?
How much closer to arcade feel do they get the cf pad?
Are they worth the 35 dollars including shipping?
Do they offer these or something similar on any other sites?
How easy are these to just make?
Thank in advance.

as some of you may know, i am getting a Flux.
anyways, im making a base mod, and i want to get some advice on what type of supplies i should use, and how i should stabalize the bar i am putting on it.
here is a rough paint drawing of what i am thinking of doing
I would like the pad to fit snug inside with support all around it, so i can lift the pad out of the base whenever i want.
and go ahead and laugh at my drawings in advance |

It does feel more (but not completely) like an arcade pad, but more importantly, it's a lot easier to tell where you are on the pad without having to look down.

I think they're worth the money.

Not that I know of.

Not that hard. All you need are some slightly longer screws and some durable material of the right thickness that can be cut into squares. I'm not sure what kind of material you'd use, though (it's been a long time since I've heard about someone doing it). _________________

Yeah, you'll want to make a base mod. My carpet is the same way and I noticed huge friggin' hairline cracks across the bottom of my CF only after a couple months of play.
Here's a pic of my mod (with arcade mod). Was pretty easy to do and all the materials cost around $20. Forget the dimensions on it but basically you'll want at least a 3/4" thick plywood base and 3/4" thick furring strips around the sides of it. I painted mine black though 'cause I hate the cheap look of unfinished wood:

Is that the same carpet you play on? My carpet is pretty thin and hard, doesn't look anything like the one you have. |

Yeah, that's what I play on. It's not like it's ultra soft shag or anything. Just regular carpet. 1/2" thick, just like yours.
Unless you're on a hard floor or using that thin astro turf style carpet without any kind of padding underneath, you'll want to put a base mod on your flux. Trust me. Better safe than sorry.
(I don't have *that* many games. only around 100 Xbox, 150 PS2, and 300 PS1 ) |
