can we PLEASE have a cat picture with that? E10.gif

Anyways, I still have to get some info to the local school back home, since the superintendent has shown some interest. I think it's great that schools are getting into the scene.

However, I really do think it's a fad that MAY run its course. If you look between 3rd and Extreme, they were pumping out new arcade mixes at the average of about 6 months per mix. That's how they kept the Japanese interested. Now I'm not saying to rush things just to get school kids in interest.

I know personally, when I became President of a DDR Club for a year, I lost a LOT of interest in the game because I thought it was work and not fun. I'm worried that we may find some kids feeling like "OMG I gotta AA this 10-footer or I'm gonna fail gym class!"

It would work better in an actual, you know, arcade.

I like my schools gym program better. The pool is right behind the gym building, so you can swim on Fridays. biggrin.gif

aaahahhahaha this article and some of these comments really relate to me! i got into playing a certain mmo rpg which i will not mention!! but after a while
i started lacking motivation and really needed to be more active. one of my friends got me into ddr, even tho i kept saying "im unco ill never play it after today" but he really just wanted me to play and have fun, he shouted me a few games, and then even tho i really couldnt pass any songs at all, somehow, once i started getting the hang of it, even tho i felt unco, i actually started having fun! and i was active once more! on top of that i've made some new friends, and an incredible best friend, and its amazing how its thanks to a friend of mine, and Dance Dance Revolution, DDR has certainly had a massive positive influence in my life, and i know it has to many others too! Sorta thinking that, but it's cute nonetheless, lol. And really, I'd be scared to take MY cat into an arcade. It'd probably run away.

Oh wait...photoshop...lol.

But nice job, DArk Core, I like it E10.gif.

My 5th grade sister's school just got the typical p.e. setup for DDR today, It was pretty ironic.

However, She said that they wouldn't let them play nything above light E19.gif . She is pretty mad at this beacuse she does 7's and 8's.

I really hope that they aren't constricting the kids to only playing on light and beginner, it could really make some of them mad.

Sadly, they are. I don't know why, there needs to be more competition. Competition should not supressed, if everyones equal no matter how much more skilled you are (Or your sister to her class mates) there's no reason to try. This is why monopolys are illegal, communism fails, and why everyone worries whenever EA buys out a franchise (first NASCAR, then NFL, what's next?).

I think having DDR in schools is, well, stupid since there is a learning curve just to even play it, not everyone enjoys DDR, some music may be questionable in public schools, one person's workout will totally differ to another's (light vs. heavy), and it's a video game used in P.E. class....just sounds wierd. Why not bring in ParaPara Paradise, In the Groove, Eye Toy Play, etc, and turn the gym into a regular arcade? Why not shovel dirt or vacuum in gym class as well, they provide exercise too.

How can they devise a comprehensive exercise regiment for everyone?

I love DDR but I think it should stay in the homes and the arcade.

We have a PS2, TV and foam pads (not very good ones, sadly) at my school that we use in gym sometimes. We have Max, Extreme and Supernova (ew). It's nice because I can totally suck at it and people will still think I am awesome. It's obviously not the best setup, but it's fun to be able to do something I enjoy in gym class (because besides DDR basically all we do is run and play volleyball).

kuz we all know that playing beginner and light is going to be good exercise........

everyone has to start somewhere, but once the kids progress, what is the harm in letting them play harder stuff? Isnt the point supposed to be to get exercise? Kinda hard to do that on light mode. W/E erm.gif

why not just play DDR music and make em walk....thats about as good of excersize.

one can imagine that with supernova, the wanna-be emo/alternative/"were different" kids are playing the fallout boy song over and over.
