No, it isn't. Ryan's 99.24 isn't usual. His run on Pandemonium was personally witnessed by at least five players, myself included, and both pad errors were on a known error at the location he was playing at, which we were able to duplicate (repeatedly) in a tournament later that day. Ryan has also (repeatedly) approached this score. His score is legit.

Put another way: Ryan's score won a tournament. I don't see how it can get more official than that.

the other sides argujent is that because the scoor wasnt displayed on the screen it isnt offical reguardless of all the possibly mittigating circumstances

I've never seen that mindset before in the hardcore ITG community. Why should this case be any different?

Though this is stupid to bring up to argue about again, I'm not doubting Duk's ability to play Pandemonium. I just said it's not a "legitimate" world record because Duk didn't get a "legitimate" tri-star on it. He corrected pad errors. I got 0 excellents and a pad great on Queen of Light once. That would've been a world record at the time if I had put it in as 100% (which I didn't), but that wouldn't have been a "legitimate" world record since Reboman had a 99.95% or something on it at the time, which was technically higher than the 99.90% that the screen displayed after I got 0 and a great.

By this standard, Tyler Ward's 97.8% on Pandemonium over two years ago (which he got by plugging in a keyboard to a hacked cabinet) is 'legitimate' but a score which physically wins the world championships is illegitimate.

That's ridiculous.

I never heard of this. How did he do that? ITG does not accept input from a keyboard plugged in. I added songs to our machine and have done a few other things but I have no idea how he did that.

I beleive what jason is trying to imply is that even though ryan got 2 pad errors and his score would have been well over 99 since the screen dosen't visually show 99 it's not "legimatally" a triple star. Now not to take anything away from ryan because i know for a fact that he could definately get an "official" *** on it no problem its just its obvious where the argument can stem from. In Tylers regard that it was'nt initally known that he used a keyboard on a hacked cabinet. And the reason so many people believed it was because he had played it a decent amount of times and since he at the time was a very high level player people didnt doubt it. Not saying he's still not a very good player but yeah thats my take on the whole matter. Please ryan *** this song so everyone can get back to arguing about everything else

He hacked it so it would accept keyboard input.

how long ago was the keyboard thing done? he couldn't have made the game accept it by editing the metrics file because the theme wasn't decrypted until very recently.

I understand Jason's argument Sean, I just think any standard by which obvious hacking comes out as okay but legitimate arbitration isn't cool is retarded.

tyler got a "legitimate" 97.6, as cory said, almost two years ago, back on itg1. i forget exactly how he said he did it, but it certainly involved some form of controller input.

just to answer, if someone who stands next to you watching you play PSMO but you get a D on it, versus somebody who understands perfect attacking and stuff, will think you suck. A player is considered good in my opinion when a player of a higher level comments about you or see's you triple A a song. Or if somebody looks up to you. Hope it clarifies.
