Hello everyone. Sorry for the bazillionth "what pad should I buy" thread, but I've read a ton of posts and still don't seem to know what to do.
This is for my son and I - light players. Maybe 3 times a week on pretty basic skill levels. I'm a big guy (like 230). I strongly prefer something that I can use with both the xbox and usb.
Here are my options:
All of these look pretty similar - all are the ones with 1" foam inserts with the side zipper, etc.
Ignition 3.0 w/ 2 year replacement plan (each replacement costs $13).
Pros: It's got a USB already, I've heard it's good?!
Cons: $100.
Intec
Pros: CHEAP - $25 marked down from $50.
Cons: No USB (I'd have to buy an adapter), is it any good?!, no extended warranty.
MadCatz
Pros: Not too expensive $35 or so.
Cons: No USB (again, buy the adapter), no idea if it's any good, no extended warranty.
Given what we want to do - continual, but light playing, USB, and something that won't drive us crazy by not working - is it smart to go with the cheaper ones? Or figure that even at $100, the Ignition is that much better AND it'll probably end up being 2 pads once I turn one in for replacement?
I mean they don't LOOK any different sitting in the boxes... is the $100 Ignition really that much better than the similar looking $25 Intec?
Thoughts? I'm very appreciative of any help here!! |

100 bucks isn't that much compared to the nicer Cobalt Flux, BlueShark or Afterburner, which range from 150-350 bucks.
Really, for novices and rookies, ignition pads are good. Even for advance players. _________________

Thanks for your replies, I really appreciate it.
It's good to know that the Red Octane Ignition will be pretty good. But is it substantially better than the similar looking Intec and MadCatz? |

Yes, it is. _________________

I would get one of the BNS DX EXTREME pads. Don't get an Ignition, those are pretty much hit and miss, and if you miss, you get it all over the seat and beyond. BNS DX EXTREME's have USB's and Xbox connectors (I'm pretty sure that there is Xbox but I know there is USB) and they last long, so they're great to get. _________________
