The Konami Softpad bunches up and slides too much. I played on someone's Madcatz softpad and it barely moved, though the carpet was not as fluffy as mine.

The Ignition is raised, so it's closer to the feel of an arcade pad except the arrows are raised instead of recessed.

anyone has experience with the Eye Toy?

i'm thinking of getting the bundle called Eye Toy Kinetic, it's supposed to be good for exercising, and the bundle gives you the Eye Toy and the "kinetic" game for $50.

anyone with experience with any of the Eye Toy games? any games worth it?

thx!

Hey eieio! - I have the Eye Toy and bought it with the bundle that came with a game (I don't think the game had a name, because it was the first one that came out, so it's more like the "original" one). It's an extremely cool gadget because you basically get to interact with your TV screen through the camera. I've never tried Eye Toy: Kinetic though. I know it sounds crazy, but I've never played the Eye Toy with one of my DDR games that supports it (DDR Extreme 2) - guess I'm too lazy! Anyway - I really think you should get the Eye Toy because it's something different compared to normal games. I once tried the "Sega Superstarts" Eye Toy game that doesn't come with a bundle (it's just the game itself), and I didn't like it so I returned it. Anyway - to sum things up, get the Eye Toy, it's really worth it!!!

crunchwrap:
thx for answering re: eye toy.

i'm confused. you said: "...sum things up, get it...it's really worth it" but you wrote that you haven't tried it with DDR, nor did you like it with the Sega Superstarts! So the natural question is: what DID you like it with??

you know what i mean? you liked it enough to recommend buying it but you haven't liked it with any games? i'm confused. please clarify if you can.

please understand that i'm a total game newbie since i just got my ps2 (my first ever computer game) several days ago with one game: the DDR Max2 at the recommendation of a few good people here on this thread after i posted a "help needed" thread title! thx all for helping me out. now i need to fine tune my "system" and equipment and practice ddr!

oh, btw, you said you tried Sega Superstarts and didn't like it so you returned it. i didn't know you can return "opened" games. i thought that once the seal is opened, you have to keep it. yes? no? what store has a liberal policy? i think that even BestBuy doesn't allow opened game returns.

i found cheaper component video cables at another bestbuy's and also cheaper optical audio cable so i'll return the expensive ones back to bestbuy's that i only got a few days ago. the price is half of the expensive ones! the component video cables really help reduce the on screen artifacts and the optical audio cable really changes the quality of the sound since it goes through your stereo or surround sound system instead of your tv.

Sorry, what I meant to say was that I really like the Eye Toy bundle that I got. I think the name of it is "Play" - but I'm not sure because it was the first one that came out (It may just be called "Eye Toy Play"). Oh yeah - about the "returning" - I bought it at Gamestop, but it was so long ago that I don't remember if I "returned" it or traded it in. Usually you can put up a little fight with them telling them that "You just bought it yesterday and you hated it", and they might give you all your money back - but if not, the only thing they'll do is let you trade it in, and get "Gamebucks" for it (money that you can only spend at Gamestop). Oh - and about me never trying out the Eye Toy with DDR... It's either because I've been too lazy, or not interested, but I've never tried out the Eye Toy with DDR Extreme 2! So, to sum things up in a clearer way: the only Eye Toy game I've tried with the Eye Toy is the first one that came out (which is called Eye Toy: Play) and it was extremely fun. In one of the little "games", you got to use your hand as a squeege, and wipe off stuff from the glass, and in another game, you get to kick and punch little ninjas that are coming your way. I think anyone would really enjoy this. (I don't mean to poop the party, but just as a warning - the only DDR games that you can play the Eye Toy with are DDR Extreme (I'm almost sure), and DDR Extreme 2 (positive) - I don't believe DDR Max or DDR Max 2 has Eye Toy Support.) Just look at the back of the video game boxes, and it will tell you if it has "Eye Toy Support". Let me know if you have anymore questions and I'll answer them.

I tried the "exercise mode" today. once the song came on, how would you "end" it? it didn't matter what button i stepped on, nothing would stop it.

i had to press the on/off button on the ps2 console to turn the entire unit off!

surely, this cannot be the ONLY way you can stop the game?!?!??!!!

please, if anyone knows, do tell me!

thx in advance.

If it's like most DDR things, try simply standing on the both the Start and Select buttons.

oh, ok, thx. i'll try that tomorrow.

the start and the select are only on the top "border" of the pad on my Ignition 3.0 pad. i mean they are not really an entire square at all, they are at the top edge of the pad, not easy to stand on both of them together since they are at the very edge.

isn't it weird that there is no obvious "stop"?? that should be one of the most obvious things that many people would want to do at some point in the middle of a game!

I agree. I don't like games that that don't give you a "proper" way to stop or go back from the mode you're on. Whenever I was in Workout Mode (before I learned about the "Start and Select" combination to exit), I also had to turn my PS2 off and on again.

It's really not that hard to stand on both, and you'll get used to it.

It's actually really easy; all you have to do is jump and land on both buttons at the same time.

Are you talking about quitting in the middle of a song? You can do that by holding down the Start button (but note that in some games, Event Mode must be on for that to work).

If you're talking about backing out of a menu, all you have to do is press Triangle (or hold it down, depending on the game).

So um, is it bad that awhile ago I was watching Family Guy, and when Quagmire came on, I thought something to the effect of "Whoa, It's AA Bob!" (I don't remember if the exact thought was "It's AA Bob" or "It's AA Bob's avatar", but I don't think it matters in this case)?
