JCRRSDawgs>>>The Nexen is supposed to be built to last under harsh conditions. I personally think that the Cobalt Flux isn't as good as everyone makes it out to be so the Nexen may even be better. And since the Blueshark uses real arcade sensors it's going to be better than the Nexen and more sensitive but the Nexen's not bad.

1) Blueshark
2) Nexen
3) Cobalt Flux
In my opinion.

By the way, since when is Afronova "hardcore"? E10.gif

lol

JCRRSDawgs>>>
the nexen is definantly worth it, ive heard from a person that has used the blueshark and the nexen, and he said they are exactly the same only that the nexen has a little more mush to the buttons and doesnt feel much like the arcade.

so in otherwords... blueshark is a more solid peice than the nexen, but the nexen has the same sensativity and is more beginner friendly.

I highly doubt that if the Nexen has "mushy" buttons like on the Cobalt Flux that it's going to be as sensitive as the Blueshark with solid arrows and real arcade sensors.

Not trying to discourage anyone, but I wouldn't really take anyone's word unless if they've personally experienced the different pads that they speak of :s (vesper's review won me over). He was one of the only ppl on here that gave a review on the nexen and it happens that it was nice.. for him. I mean hey, the afterburner at my school worked nice for me, it's just that I HATE the overly recessed arrows. On the other hand, other people had terribad experiences with the AF. What we need more of are primary sources.

My nexen SHOULD be coming in tomorrow... I'll be sure to give a review when it does.

YES! First 25 Blueshark (with bar) units which were pre-ordered got in stock on Dec 2, which means I should be getting mine soon! E4.gif

Well here it is. My nexen came in the mail today. I'll definitely have to say, it's not as great as everyone might have expected it to be.

I'll start off with things that I've noticed first. There is a dent in one of the edges, and I'm not too sure if mymybox or fedex is to blame. It was padded by foam, so I think it might not have been fedex's fault.
Upon carrying the pad to my basement, I realized that the grip mat on the bottom of the pad is poorly glued on. The sides were peeling and I could see that there wasn't enough glue applied to the edges.
... Next, the A button was upside down. As I was trying to unscrew the panel, I noticed #4. The screws might have been loose, they were sticking up a bit above level. It didn't look normal, so I tried to tigten them. To my surprise, it seemed to bend the panels so I didn't move anything. I simply plugged the pad up to try it out.

This pad definitely isn't for barefoot/socks play. Maybe some easy 7 footers, but once you start getting in crossovers, the screws will catch your foot and it'll hurt. I was playing freckles and I hesitated through crossovers simply because it was piercing my socks.

Now on to sensitivity. I'll have to point this out first: I'm not too used to playing in shoes. The only time I played in shoes was at the fitness room at school on the Afterburners that they have. I guess I kinda relied on the recessed arrows to feel my position. The nexen feels very weird with shoes on, so maybe I have to get used to it. It didn't seem to be all that sensitive, but maybe i need to play a little bit more on it. As of now though, as scary as it sounds, I wish I stayed afterschool to play on the afterburners today.

I'll give another update soon...

Yeah, I've heard alot of people getting dented/cracked arrows due to delivery. I'm going to have to say that it was FedEx as they totally abuse pads. My CF has alot of visable scratches on the baseboard. and the box wasn't in the best shape either.

Nexen isn't good for socks? What the hell is everyone else talking about then? It doesn't look like it has screws that stick up like a Cobalt Flux or a Blueshark at all.

The Nexen is supposed to have a pretty flat structure on top so playing in shoes might feel a little awkward if you're used to playing on the Afterburners and their majorly repressed arrows. I'm sure you'll get used to it though. It's easier to move around on.

I've heard reviews that sounded just like yours and after the people got the basic problems sorted out, they loved their pads. I'd email, call, or post your problems on their forums. I've noticed that when people post something negative about their pads on the forums, their really quick to help you and solve your problem probably because they don't want other people to not buy their products because of it. Good luck getting your pad in a good working order. erm.gif

see the dent, and the little lift at the bottom??

Lol.

The first few times of playing on it, I heard some squeeky sounds but soon the panels didn't really make anymore noise. I guess this probably means they really don't put it to testing before selling. I mean, shouldn't they have realized the upside down A if they at least took a look at the pad?

Maybe it was just me when I played on supernova earlier, but I tried again on Max and the arrows seemed to be come more and more sensitive as I kept playing. I'm not that healthy atm so I can't really endure through harder songs, but I'm improving. I know I said that crossovers felt weird on the nexen, but after getting used to it, its pretty much easier to do them rather than on an Afterburner ... just be sure to have shoes on =x

Haha, your Nexen looks ridiculous. E10.gif Can't you just unscrew the "A" panel and rotate it to make it look normal?

Oh, and congratulations on the your Exotic Ethnic A. Maybe your pad just needs to be broken in to be at it's peak sensitivity.

LOL I don't know what to tell you about the upside down A E15.gif

My Blueshark and Nexen both have tiny dents in the corners for some reasons. It isn't really noticeable and certainly doesn't have an impact on gameplay, but I admit it can be disheartening to see that your brand new pad is a little scuffed up.

When playing on my Nexen one time my sock got caught and ripped, so then I just adjusted the screws a little bit so nothing was sticking out and it's worked fine since. If shoes work for you then keep doing what you're doing, but if you really want to try barefoot/socks play try tightening the screws a little bit E1.gif

And yeah, nice job on the Exotic Ethnic A, that song is hella tiring biggrin.gif

I tried unscrewing the panels but it wouldnt budge, lol. I figured I'd have to take apart more, but I rather try the pad out a bit more first to see if any other defects pop into play. -vaguely remembers from business law- that the manufacturer won't be responsible if I modified the own product in any way (what was it called, conversion?)
I posted on their board and I will do anything according to THEIR instructions. That way, they'll be held liable if anything goes wrong. =x

And thanks on the grats, I'll keep workin on improving as long as my health problems cease E1.gif

Oh my god, do I know how that feels. I rushed home after school to play some In The Groove on my new Cobalt Flux and apparently FedEx didn't even deliver it that day even though we spoke to them over the phone and they were supposed to do it. I just stayed home all day playing on my modded softpad thinking about what my scores would be like with my CF. E15.gif

That's kinda what happened to me with my nexen, but I just never mentioned it lol. However, I'm mad at FedEx not just for being late, but because the delivery guy was struggling with the weight. Perhaps that's why I have some dents in the corner of my pads. They shouldn't have weaklings delivering heavy packages... I mean, the box says Fragile and handle with care. The box didn't look like it was handled with too much care.

Oh my god, what a pussy. The guy who brought my Cobalt Flux to my house wasn't struggling at all and it's significantly heavier than the Nexen. I'd like to see the guy who delivered your pad deliver a 3" Blueshark w/ bar.

That upside down A/circle reminds me of when I got my CF. It was in great condition out of the box, but there was white protective stuff on and under the left panel.
