its not at all onbeat on itg2
on the r16 patch it seems to be much better, but its still not perfect. _________________

It doesn't seem at all offbeat to me, but according to 32472348 out of 9 people, I never have any idea what I'm talking about. |

Make that 32,472,347 out of 9, because I agree with you. I've NEVER EVER had trouble finding the beat on ANY part of Vertex. I completely disagree that it's off-sync. _________________

Anyone who can't see how badly off-sync Vertex is doesn't know how to FA very well! Or just listen to the music while FAing... Going from like a 99.50% on Mythology to a 97% on Vertex C450 No Mines is NOT COOL. It's so much worse than D2R... |

Actually I'm not THAT bad at FAing. I THINK I have a 95 on it. Not the best score, but I honestly don't think it's that bad. But to make sure, I'll go play it in a few minutes _________________

to anyone that disputes the claim that vertex is offsync:
what is your score on it? is it in the top10? i didnt think so.
because i can guarantee all of the top10 players on that song agree that it is pretty offsync. and id be inclined to trust those people, seeing as how theyre pretty familiar with the song. _________________

Yeah, I suppose if I played ITG 23 hours a day, I'd probably notice the .0003ms difference you seem to be noticing, but as it stands I guess I'll just have to hang my head in shame for only having a star on it instead of a triple star and NOT be completely taken aback by such a minor beat variation.
I'd never DREAM to be as good as you, Duk, but seriously, the generalizations become annoying after awhile. Every time I hear this sort of thing, it always ends with "You're not in the top ten, so you don't know what you're talking about." Seriously, the ego thing really does get old after awhile.
Maybe I'm wrong about the syncing, and maybe my scores aren't as good as yours (or, let's face it, even CLOSE), but that doesn't make me a terrible player. In fact, I'd be more proud of the fact that I can play an off-sync chart and find the beat anyway without it being such a major issue. _________________

..okay? so be proud then. because it is off.
contrary to popular belief, i dont play itg 23 hours a day, i play once or twice a week just like most everyone else. and its not a .0003 ms difference, it actually fluctuates by the size of the fantastic window (if not more), id say thats pretty noticeable to most players.
and since when did i berate anyone for being "not in the top10"? i applaud everyone who plays this game, and i pride myself on the fact that i dont have an ego towards "not as good" players.
i did however cite the top10 groovestats scores on vertex. those people assumably have played that song enough to know how it fluctuates. those people include ceder, who i dont think anyone can accuse of having an ego, since no one in the US had heard of him till a month ago, and of course the record holder blake, who is one of the more humble people i know when it comes to dancing games.
i know that if omid tells me something about go60go, ill listen. if mike q tells me something about mythology, or hell, almost any song in the game, ill listen. he obviously knows his stuff.
the only thing i generalized was how offsync vertex was. my proof was not that "you only have a 96 on it you suck". it was instead "these people who according to groovestats know the ins and outs of this song all agree, this song is offsync."
i apologize if it seemed as though i was on some form of ego trip, i wasnt at all, but i can legitimately say that any dispute over something as inherently obvious and objective as syncing gets me riled up. and i like to try and get rid of any doubt on the matter, since there should be no debate whatsoever on any song (given standard machines and patches of course). _________________

Vertex is indeed offsync, in fact it is one of the most offsync songs in the game, the worse news is that ALL the songs in ITG 1 and 2 are offsync some even worse than Vertex. |

I guess I took what you said the wrong way. You have my apologies.
And I was just being facetious about the 23 hours a day crack. I know that you have a life outside of ITG. Hope I didn't unintentionally overstep myself when I said that. _________________

You guys all know that this thread was made in 2005 right? That frank the tank guy looked at like the 40th page of the In The Groove forum history.
But yes, VerTex is offsync. A hell of a lot better on r16 than any previous update, but its still pretty bad.
And I have a lot more say in it than everybody here. Except Dukamok, he knows his syncings, and we are 2 excellents away from eachother on the song. _________________

Excuse my ignorance, but what makes it so hard to sync correctly? I was under the impression that ITG had correctly synced songs (at least compared to DDR) and the BPM changes in VerTex are discrete enough ... I think.
I always do very badly on the song; I always end up getting Decents and Way Offs. I just assumed it was my inability to adapt to the speed changes though. |

They're talking about stuff being offsync such that people with good audio timing would get Excellents instead of Fantastics, maybe Greats. Getting Decents and worse is nearly certainly your fault. _________________

i have a 99.25 on vertex
and it's DEFINITELY way off.
even on R16 it seems to get progressively later, but then gradually get a tad better toward the end. _________________
