We're about to return our third RedOctane Ignition mat this evening to Best Buy.
- The pads that raise the arrow buttons of the first mat slipped to the center.
- The second mat had no problems with the arrow pads, but it started ghosting.
- The third mat is exhibiting the same kind of problem as the first.
Since Best Buy is standing by the product with its return policy, I'm still planning to exchange it for another Ignition. But does anyone have any other suggestions for a better soft pad?[/b] _________________

Hell, a Konami softpad would be better then an Ignition without the foam. But that's not a bad idea. |

You can put me on the list for being ripped off too. Just got it from Best Buy the other day. And I thought I was really sucking, since I was faling everything. Then I realized that the down arrow wasn't responding at all. Plus it was all wrinkled up. So yeh, I'm gonna go get my refund and just try to make my own.. |

Ermsh;; I cut open one of my ignitions by cutting the black thread - and basically the whole top layer fell to bits. =.="" Is there not a better way to do this; as I want to cut open my 2nd ignition ._." |

It seems that in my ignition, the foam isn't the problem as it's not bunched up or torn or anything - I cut it open only to find that the foam is probably in the same condition as it was new. I bought the pads off ebay so I did expect SOME wear and tear, but it seems that there is none. This is odd, as the white plastic was a little brown and had imprints of the little holes from the foam. Anyone know any other way I can fix my mat?
Images:
The down arrow is now ghosting ==" Cutting up a mat can trigger this? oO' Also... THE SENSORS AREN'T TOUCHING. This is odd. I've flipped the top sensor over to look at the foam... and for some reason the down arrow is continuously triggering... however it is not even touching the foam, for I cut 3 sides and flipped it over as well. Help please. |

We would LOVE a Konami soft pad but we can't seem to find any of them anywhere! Can anyone suggest a vendor? _________________

I suppose I should've read this and other forums beforehand, but I bought one of these on eBay that, when opened, looked and smelled brand new.
My PC recognizes the unit when it is plugged in, and it is accessible in the control panel under the "game controllers" icon. However, upon testing the input signals through control panel and Stepmania, well there is no signal at all. Nothing is recognized when the buttons are pushed.
I've perused this and many forums for hours and had ZERO luck. Is there anything else I can try? Or do I simply have a defective unit? |

Well, I can't do anything to help with the problem, but I'm also looking for a solution to it. A (less technical) friend of mine just got the Ignition 3.0, and is having *exactly* the same problem as you are. Pad is recognized by the computer and Stepmania, but pushing the buttons doesn't generate any input. She's also running XP. |

did you go to the map and configure triggers on the stepmania options menu? if not, just do that and map the buttons yourself. _________________

You can't map the buttons yourself. She tried that, but when it asks you to hit the button on the pad, you can't do anything. Pressing the buttons doesn't create any input. No input, no mapping. That's the whole problem, why is it that the pad just won't give any input to the computer?
Also, she plugged it into her PS2, and it worked fine. But, her DDR(-like) games are all for the PC, so to use the pad on PS2, she would have to go out and spend more money to buy some games. |
