No, that was intentionally disabled in the demo versions (aside from beta 1, which is quite buggy).

I was referring to the In the Groove beta 1 demo, or as I asked before is this a non-demo beta 1.

Let's think about this. You're asking, in the ITG forum, if there's a way you can use the ITG demo (without paying for ITG) to load it up as a sim. While one of ITG's developers is right there watching.
Exactly how cheap-ass are you? If you want an ITG-lookalike so bad, go pay for it. If you don't want it as badly, go get Stepmania and one of the ITG themes that people have made.

I personally want to do it for experimental purposes - the taking advantages of the AdditionalSongFolders. While it will be abused to completely avoid buying ITGPC/ITG2/ITG future, I just want to see what it is like to play my favorites, Tsugaru, Burning Heat! ets, from MAX2 in ITG without hacking the PS2 disk for a lack of HD space and DVD burning capabilities. You really can't complain about my example specifically (and you most likely weren't - just videoCWK) - I plan on buying ITG2 c/s, and ITGPC - just not too soon after DDR EXTREME JP (and the accompanying Play Asia ITGPC demo) comes and I ask my parents to get me DDR SuperNova PS2 for my birthday in 2 months.

The point Cutriss was trying to make was that you shouldn't be asking about hacking the demo to do something that was intentionally taken out for a reason.... Roxor are fine with adding your own songs to the full version because you bought the program, and from there on they don't care what else to add. If youre someone who wants to add songs to the demo because you like the program, then tough.... Roxor is rightfully making you buy the program. You aren't just "buying songs" when you buy this, you're buying the whole program. If you like it, and want to use it for your other songs, then buy it and give Roxor the money they rightfully deserve. It would be stupid for them to release the demo with the ability to add your own songs/sims. Almost nobody would buy the game, especially the people that only care about the program and not the songs.

I agree, but what *I* want to do is not hacking - taking advantage of a line in preferences.ini - a file open to editing BTW - that was allegedly left in there in the demo version *I* have..
Surely that is not on the same level of actually hacking the program itself.
And on that level why am I not seeing this chastising for posts mentioning PC demo PCK decompiling in the "How to Unpack and ITG Disk" (exact title name eludes me at the moment)? Pot... kettle... black? That's hacking.
