Hi guys:
There is something I don't understand. Dance dance revolution is apparently one of the best selling PS2 games of all times. The popularity of that game is growing and growing (at least in the US) and, with the Supernova game coming this september, it will certainly keep on attracting new players.
I have been a reader of the PS2 magazine for a very long time. All I have seen is really small article about upcoming ddr games (the size of a stamp) and some reviews of the games. The only exception was during winter 2004 were they put a video about new music stimulation games (ddr, karaoke revolution) on the included dvd. Thank you for that.
Some would argue that there isn't much to say about a bunch or arrow going up the tv screeen. I disagree. What about an interview with some konami staff, how do they choose the music for Supernova game? What about an interview with Naoki or Dj TAka ( I think I only saw something in the booklet of DDr max game or Konamix). There is also lots of good stuff going on in E3, where ddr was apparently very present (for XBox, Xbox 360 and PS2)
I am glad Internet is there to cover those events but I guess a 2-3 pages article wouldn't hurt the PS2 magazine sales. I'm just surprise, since ddr is such a phenomenon, that it hasn't been done yet. _________________

It's best selling because it's not biased toward who plays. Most people aren't going to be interested in FPS (say like your little sister). The problem is gaming experts are generally not interested in DDR because they are interested in many other gaming areas. They don't know what is good in dancing games and what isn't other than the selection of music and the interface. _________________

DDR is popular without having to be advertised because its kind of like a mini-cult. As long as Konami keeps producing good games, we will keep on buying them. |

Yeah, everyone will buy DDR because it's DDR, that's why ITG and PIU don't sell as well, because people don't like them because they're not DDR. |

I highly doubt this. Proof, please. _________________

Well, Extreme 2 was the 50th best-selling PS2 game of 2005: http://ps2.ign.com/articles/684/684395p1.html
However, I don't think I'd say that DDR is one of the best-selling PS2 games of all time. _________________

Haha
Even if DDR is not one of the best selling PS2 games, people have probably spent more money on it than better-selling games that don't require expensive peripherals. |
