|
|
Hey guys. Just wanted to see if it would be a huge hassle to insert a column for "Other Music Games" on the machine location page. It's time consuming to click on each and every location to see if there are other music games at that location. It would be MUCH appreciated!! _________________

I said this is a bad idea is because there's not that much music game in the arcade. |

Considered, if there are no other music games insert a hyphen (-) in that column. At least have the number of other music games within that arcade in a column on the state's main listing. I hate looking for other music games in the location database because I basically have to click on each location individually only to find none or the wrong "other music" machine. When I take a vacation to a different state, I look for IIDX or DM or Pop'n and it's very time consuming to go through all of the locations to try and find a machine. How is this a bad idea? Even a symbol that signifies there are other music games in that arcade would help! _________________

Oh okay. I thought you ment other music arcade games besides Bemani games. lol...
BTW, I never knew that it shows other music games on the location til I modify the ddr location. Note that around my area, we don't have any other music games besides Pump it Up.
Yeah this a good idea. |

That is a great idea. I always wanted to know if there are any Pump machines near me. _________________

I think this would be a really good idea, not sure how hard it would be to change it though. |

I don't really think it should be too hard to implement... _________________

I have a question relating to machine locations too. As you people likely know, many theater chains (definitely in Canada, likely in the US) have been downgrading their Extremes to become PS2 ExUS mixes in fake cabinets that aren't even worth the light of day.
From what I've seen there's no option to say "PS2 ExUS" as the machine or to comment that the Extreme that is in the machine locations is actually the PS2 ExUS version (and not worth a single penny to play). On their pads you might be lucky on a light song to get half the steps in the song. That's how bad it is.
Do we simply request the removal of the actual machines and ignore the fact there's the pseudo crap that I've just listed? What do you recommend? _________________

Set it to extreme, and comment that it's a PS2 bootleg Extreme. _________________

In the past I've deleted those entries. People got upset about the idea of going to a location that didn't really have DDR. There's a border between non-discernible bootlegs and totally obvious fakes (and then cybercafes and the like who operate a PS2 with the home games and then advertise the location here).
If it's not worth listing in the database, then don't. And you might want to contact the operators of the games informing them that they got ripped off. _________________

I worked on this a while back, but got sidetracked with things.
I would consider adding this (if it's not computationally-intensive, it looked "okay" when I working on it), but it wouldn't show specific machines - just if there are any present at all. We deal with a strict amount of horizontal space, and we just don't have enough for another column for all of this. Plus, we're DDR Freak. While I think that other Bemani is pretty nifty and sweet, the idea of an arcade getting six or seven times as much vertical space because it has one DDR machine but a whole host of various music games seems rather unfair to me.
Most people know where the Bemani havens are if they live close enough to them. In Seattle you have Illusionz. In MA you have TGA. In NJ you have 8otB. Just having a marker to indicate that "Other Bemani" is present would be enough, I think. _________________
