I bought this pad on e-bay a few months ago:

The pad is wireless and I am having serious issues with the signal. The closer the control box is, the better it registers. Even when the control box is right in front of the little thing that sends the signal, I still get a great when I should get a perfect, etc.

I have tried changing the batteries in the pad and nothing is making it any better. Is there any way to fix it? Or should I somehow use the wiring of homemade pads to make this thing work?

Thanks E1.gif

you could hard wire the control box with the pad, but i dunno if the intrnals are the same as a normal pad? or a riskyer idea, increase the voltage to the control box, so it can transmitt father?

in general, wired > wireless

if you're willing to take apart your pad, connect all the panel switches to a regular wired control box, which shouldn't cost much.

Problem with wireless is they always buffer the damn thing too much, and send at pathetic bitrates. They use remote control technology, but this isn't a remote control! (i.e. the volume control in the TV doesn't care if you press it 10ms later).

It's NOT the fact that it's wireless (light or radio energy, which are really the same thing, i.e. infrared = radio since both are electromagnetic radiation, just produced in VERY different ways and at VERY different wavelengths), since electromagnetism in air is actually FASTER than electricity down a wire. It's the crappy protocol and receivers they use.

Anyway, I would think wireless for a pad isn't all that useful... it's not like the pad is going to be on the other side of the room, and it's on the floor so wires don't matter that much.
