are you trying to say im a bad person?? i'm just stating my point why i think guitar hero is much inferior to beatmania. I was getting into much detail, as you can see i am a man who likes to state his point and stick it in someones face.
i actually am a very happy and nice person, it'd a debate, and when it's about something i truly appretiate and have strong feelings about, expect me to stick it in the other sides face on why the choice A owns choice B.
You should have seen me when the DS VS PSP debate was heating up. I shut those PSP loving bastards down because of my "PSP=Movies, not games" type talk.
And i'll say, beatmania US has a crappy, short songlist for IIDX, which is much better than normal. I can't wait till i get 10th style and can truly appretiate beatmania IIDX. |

It depends on your personal predilictions towards about 12 different subjective criteria. |

I've played Guitar Hero for a month and a half, and really enjoy it. And yes, I'm a hardcore DDR player and I like GH over Beatmania. But that's probably because I haven't got the chance to play Beatmania a whole lot (no IIDX in my city, only beatmania machine is 30-35 miles away, and I don't have $300 lying around for an import ps2, controller, and game)
Music - People are going to like or hate the music in GH, and that's completely someone's opinion.
Controller - The GH controller can be at times uncomfortable, but I have got used to it, and it really doesn't bother me that much. Only issue is that my left arm getting tired after a few songs unless I'm resting it on a pillow.
# of songs - Ok, GH has 47. But how many songs did DDR US PS1 have? 27, and no real good songs. When GH 2 comes out, expect more.
Speed mods, or lack of in GH - Don't care, don't care, don't care.
Now, I did try out Beatmania US at Fry's Electronics a few times, and it seemed to be enjoyable, but for now, my personal preference is GH over BM US. _________________

Guitar Hero is a good "Pick up and play" game. And though it does get difficult, I passed every song on Expert within a week or two. (mainly because I didn't put it down)
With Beatmania, I've been playing for a few months and I've barely begun trying 7's (havn't passed one yet, but I've a'd a few)
I can't really say which one I prefer more, right now I can't put down IIDX.. but then a few weeks ago I couldn't put down Pop'n, and I won't be able to put down GH2 when it comes out... and I love the music on both equally.
If you want a game where you can get good quick, go for GH.
If you want a game where you have to sit a practice and put lots of effort before you start improving, get BM..
and that's probably been said before, but it's my 2 cents. |

Oh, and though GH doesn't have speed mods, the harder difficulty you play, the faster it scrolls... or is that just me? |

GH was designed for "normal" people to be able to finish. 8's on Beatmania require a certain amount of dedication and persistance.
However: finishing expert and truly mastering it are two entirely different things. I finished expert as well, but I got through Bark at the Moon with about 5% of my meter left, and I had carefully mapped out when to use star power to get me through the tough parts. I only got 67% of the notes. I would say I'd need 95% of the notes to feel I could really play it well, and that would take a LOT more practice.
Granted, GH would still be easier to 95% of all notes than BM would. But, GH is quite hard if you try to really master it. Amplitude is the same. Yeah, I passed all 26 tracks on Insane. But the last 2 or 3 arenas are mostly 1 and 2 bar ratings, with only a few 3s. And you can still get 4s on that game. _________________

Reviews are often wrong as hell. My friends and I still play hours of Urban Reign, and it got horrible reviews.
Granted, my review score for GH is higher than beatmania's. My point is just that review scores don't really prove anything.
As an example, IGN's review says the beatmania is a rhythm game without the rhythm! I mean, what the hell is that all about?
BTW, my full beatmania review is up now. _________________

A better taste in music. |
QFE.
I can play that stuff on a real guitar, anyhow. Guitar Hero is fun, even if you do know how to play guitar. They had it out at Best Buy the other day and I really enjoyed it. I've never played Beatmania though, so I guess I can't really compare the two games. I'd probably like the music better in Beatmania because GH is all covers of popular rock songs. The "Take Me Out" cover sucks face. |
