Here is a super in depth guide on how to do this, since a lot of people seem to be having problems.
First, Rip all of the files from the ITG PS2 disc (if you don't want ITG1 songs, just rip everything except for files that start with D in the PCKS folder, but you do need DA0A****.PCK). You do not need the PCK.IDX file.
Next, take the songs you want to add. Convert all music files to a 48 KHZ OGG vorbis file (I used audacity and goldwave to do this, goldwave has a batch convert so its easier, but it didn't accept some of my MP3s, so for that, I used Audacity). Make sure all banners are .PNG 256x80, and backrounds are also .PNG 320x240 (I used "Picture Resize Genius" to do this). Also, make sure all songs are in the .sm format (DWI isn't tested, feel free to do that). BGVideos, if any, should be 320x240 Mpeg 1 30 FPS, and I'm not even sure if it would work like that.
NOTE: Feel free to test formats not listed, and tell if it works.
Now that everything is in the right format, put everything that you want to pack on the root of the drive that you are going to pack off of (meaning, for songs, pack it in C:\Songs\In The Groove 2\etc). The file structure should be exactly the same as StepMania. Open up the PCK Packer. Click on "Browse for Source File Folder" and choose the folder(s) that you want to pack. Now, for songs, choose "Datafile" and check "Generate Cache". In the comment, put "default[insert anything here]" (meaning, you can have any comment, as long as put default at the beginning) then click "Choose Filename & Save" and choose where you want to save it. Do NOT change the filename.
After all that, make sure all the PCK files you want on your ITG ISO are in the same folder. Open up PCK IDX Wrapper. Click on "Browse for PCK file folder" and navigate to the folder with all of your PCKs in it. Then just click on "Generate IDX file" and it will create a PCK.IDX for you.
Now, open up Sony CD/DVD Generator. Choose new project then single layer DVD. Drag N Drop all of the files from ITGPS2 in this exact order:
1. the .IMG
2. PCKS
3. SLUS 211.77
4. SYSTEM.CNF
5. BOOT.PAK
Also, you need to go into the volume tab in CD/DVD gen and enter some stuff in those (I'm not sure if everything is needed, but its probably a good idea to do it all)
DISC NAME: SLUS 21177
PRODUCER NAME: PLAYSTATION
License Area: America
Copyright Holder: ROXOR GAMES
Volume: IN_THE_GROOVE
Publisher: REDOCTANE
Volume Set: 1
Data Preparer: GLENN MAYNARD
THIS STEP IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE BUILDING ISOS WITH NO ITG1 SONGS: If you are getting an error about how it hasn't reached the minimum sector or something like that, find a dummy file (I just use the 400ish MB song file from ITG because I had it handy) and put it in the root of the ISO after BOOT.PAK.
Now, go to File>Export IML File. Open up IML2ISO and choose that file then click build ISO. Burn the ISO and enjoy.
This is all assuming you're adding songs. |

When I try to use un-pkf thru CMD, it says "Failure! PCK has a file who's name is too long".
Anyone help me on this?
Thanks. _________________

Besides that, I don't really know. The packer posted on the ninth page also includes an unpacker. You could always use that. |

Well I tried dragging it to it and nothing happened. I did UnAV before with already extracted stuff in CMD and that worked, but I have more ITG data and I cant get these pck files unpacked. _________________

Is the data that you are trying to extract from ITG PC? It won't work if that is the case. |

hey guys...great job unpacking and repacking and stuff ...i have a question for kalek : the thing is that i dont have a HDD on my ps2, and today i did all the steps repacking my Ps2 itg with all the itg2 songs with the correct formats etc, and did the IDX wrap too, and i did the iso with the dvd generator etc etc...in other words, i followed all the steps perfectly but when i burned the iso on a dvd the game wont start ....i think its because the game its supoussed to run from the HDD ...anyway, my question is: is there a way for me to play the "new" itg without HDD?..or i´ll HAVE to buy a HDD?
thx in advance

jaime | Should work fine with DVDs. All the HDD does is make software think its the CD drive. If you built the ISO as the wrong format (meaning CD instead of Single Layer DVD) or if you put the files in the wrong order when building the ISO, that could cause it not to boot. Same thing with forgetting to do things under the "volume" tab. The other thing I can think of that would cause it not to boot, is if there are .PCK files in the .PCK folder that are not indexed in the PCK.IDX file. |

You need an HDLoading program or you need a modchip. You can't run burned discs as simple as just burning the image from cdvdgen. |

I find that some songs are very offbeat when compared to playing them on the computer. Does PC Stepmania load DWIs before SMs because that might explain why... |

As long as you have a modchip the DVDs work fine. |

You're on your own for that, it can't legally be linked to.
Songs are +40 MS after the MP3 -> ogg conversion, probably due to the different encoding techniques. Either adjust the timing in ITG's options or do it by hand in the simfiles. _________________

thx for replying kalek and the others
of course i have a modded ps2, and the things that kalek said were all done...the only thing i can think of is the order of the files when i build the iso..because the iso was very big with all the itg and itg2 songs, so i took out the PCK folder that was at the beginning of the files and when i added it again it was at the end...but the order can affect that much...??...well, im gonna try again and ill let you know what happened.
thx you all
