well hopefully it'll at least sell well enough to warrant a US 2nd style. (and given the prospect of $60USD controllers instead of $100USD ones, it just may happen.... assuming enough stores get the product on the shelves in the first place... )

I really like Beatmania. I've played it at the arcades. I just bought it maybe two hours ago.
The EB downtown had a humongous box with four inside. There were no preorders. I got the first one and got to watch him open the humongous box and take mine out, put a sticker on it, and sell it to me.
The turntable stuff is hard. I'm not used to IIDX. I've been sticking to 5-key mode. _________________

After finally obtaining a copy of beatmania I got a chance to sit down and play it...
I was really hoping for much more...
-The song list was quite short compaired to other Beatmania releases.
-The GUI is terrible (it was a weird mix of 9th style/5th style/crap).
-The timing also felt slightly awkward for a good deal of the songs.
-Grading was too nice
-Lack of Unlocks for new songs
-Another mode having to be unlocked
For new players or ones that don't have a mod-chip then this game is much much better, and it is very worth buying. For the people that already own the Japanese styles, you pretty much get a Greatest Hits (though some songs aren't the greatest) and a new KOC.
Whenever I buy American bemani I always feel kind of jipped, we never get anything new. Is Konami that lazy that they can't put together a little bit more than 8 new songs? Why are we always stuck with compilation discs of older songs? I realize this is a first release but with the popularity of Guitar Heroes causing a spark of interest with music games, I was kind of hoping for a bit more. _________________

Once Guitar Hero was introduced at last year's E3, I think Konami was already too far in the development process with beatmania to make any song changes/additions. Also, was there any way that they would've expected Guitar Hero to do as well as it did? I guess maybe a lack of foresight would be to blame as well. _________________

Has anyone tried to go on the IR yet?
The site that's given in the game is just the Konami site. _________________

Hopefully the internet rankings will be up within a few days. Any clue as to how many characters are allowed in the DJ names?
I haven't bothered to look yet, but is the EX score just gone from normal play? All I see for the records are the letter grade, the money score, and the special clear statuses (i.e., Full Combo, Perfect, etc.). |

I got my IR passes from Expert Mode, which is the nonstop thing, I guess.
I was able to put in DJ MALICE. It gives you six characters. _________________

Hmm. That sucks that you have to play EVERY song pass or fail, to play it in Free Mode.
And you know what would be a good crossover song? Healing Vision. I don't think everyone has played that to death.
A Guidebook? No wai! I do believe DDR had a guide too, but I forgot which mix it was though. I think it was 3rd. _________________

And now a segue!
For all the Socal folks bitching about the US release - I gotta say this is a godsend for lots of fans. Many places in the US don't have the privledge of having a newer IIDX machine within driving distance - the closest machine to me is a Beatmania 6th UK Underground that just has crappy Hip-Hop on it. I've driven over 120 miles to play it.
So yeah, rock on Konami. It isn't perfect, but it's finally been formally introduced to the US.
Also: I used dj ALPHA |

How do you unlock songs? Is it pretty much just like DDR. Just keep playing songs. How come when I play game mode, sometimes I have more songs to choose from then other times. Forgive me im new _________________

I kind of find it wierd that there's a player's guide for Beatmania. (probly has charts) I just use GameFaq's now. Saves ya alot of money. But anyways....
I can't redeem Gamestop credit online, so looks like I've gotta wait till next week. Plus, that lady isn't coming till Wednesday, so I STILL have no idea if she got Ouendan....Least I finally found BM & GF MP3s....*Listens to Magical Jet Tour* |

is it just me, (it may be) or is the timing window really really tiny? Has Anyone played this with a JP IIDX yet? because i bought it for the controller. i figured the us songlist was going to blow, and i was right.
also, has anyone found out what the covered up plug by the power cord on the turntable is for? looks like a av plug(yellow white red) from the back of a VCR. _________________
