Quoted for truth (IMO).

there is no way to win the arguement about the womens division. if you have it is sexist and segrated, if you don't it's still sexist and unfair.
i may sound sexist saying it's unfair, but generally guys are better at it. sorry ladies!
|
Considering there was only one girl that enter speed in WPF05, I think women should be grateful to have a seperate division. While there are some girls who can compete with guys on a equal level, on a whole it's the only way most women will have a chance.

i would love to be able to participate this year, but the closest pump machine is an hour and a half away, and i can't play nearly as much as i would like. |
I feel you man. While the closest manchine to me is only 10 miles away, I don't have a car, and would have to walk two miles to catch a bus to get to the arcade. I don't know, I might try it one day, to see how it is. The walk there isn't what bothers me, it's coming back after playing intensely. |

In reguards to what? Music? Difficulty? Etc? Either way, the only real arguments I could have would be potential ITG>PIU>DDR rank changes, but the 3rd would always stay there.

True, though with the lone girl that qualified at nationals qualifying last and having to go against Viper first round, not to mention the 15 footers + aspect of the tournament overall, that likely shyed away any girls who would have considered the trip. Now, if the girls get a much more lenient song selection comapred to the guys come next year, maybe more girls will be willing to come out and throw down for a trip to korea. The 2 girls that freestyled at nationals werent ENTIRELY bad speeders, they just wouldnt have had a chance in comparison to the field.

Isnt there a pump tourney the week after new years somewhere in upstate NY? I remember reading something about it on Pumpcore, but don't recall where as it was called P-ghetto or something.
Nonetheless, when Zero gets here i'll have to start getting serious >.< _________________

Yeah, that tournament is a few hours away from Rochester though. That part of upstate is on the OTHER side of the state. _________________

The real reason girls let the guys win is that there's less motivation for us girls to win--- While the guys can win 30k--- girls only get 20K??? Come on PIU execs, WTF? |

i think the girls division is great. it's gonna motivate a lot of girls to try harder. and for these girls (and guys), keep in mind that the finalists of their countries nationals fly to korea ALL EXPENSES PAID.
we're getting zero hopefully next month, so im gonna work hard as hell to maybe get to go. who knows. im pretty lousy at pump since i haven't had time to play lately, but with zero coming, ill make time!
and for you southeast players, ill be running some tourneys here in spartanburg sometime soon. ill be posting them _________________

Actually it'd be more interesting if the winners from both divisions went head-on, the winner took $30K, and the other $20K.

I can't wait for the tourney. I really want to go again this year. Even if you don't win a free trip you need to go anyway. Last year the support for the US was lacking. It sucks to go up and play and have nobody cheering for you, but every other country has a huge cheering section.
Also I think the girls devision is great. Guys are not really how do you say better than girls. Its just there is a bigger ammount of guy players vs. girls. Like 10,000 guys to about 500 girls. Just a guestimate. Cause I know one of the girl players here Julia is better than most of the guy players I have seen. _________________

I think this is actually why they decided to award a smaller prize for the Female Division -- they are concerned that maybe there will not be many competitors, and they might award a huge prize to someone who didn't have to accomplish very much. That someone could come in and "steal" the prize. It's that age-old fear -- What if you threw a party and no one came?
That's my thinking, anyway, about the reasoning for the smaller prize. They want to see how it goes this first year. Maybe they plan to make the prize equal in the future, if all goes well. _________________
