Thou Shall not Clock Me!!! I love that. Reading that mad me LMAO
anyway my opinion is that they wont make much munny off of it. Not enough to cause Konami to loose any, after all I think given the chose most would choose DDR over Dance Praise. i can see some churches buying this for their youth but thats about it. And im sure most of you didnt even know about this company till it was announced here, that is probably the same for most people, not knowing about this company that is.
As far as me I have nothing against Christianity heck i go to church, but I would not buy this game. |

When I first showed my mom DDR, she said someone should make a Christian version of the game, so the idea isn't totally stupid. I think a better idea would've been to offer some kind mp3 downloading service where people could download the songs to play with stepmania and let fans share their own steps. Of course, that would require the average user to be pretty tech-savvy, which most Christians over 30 are not.
The thing I don't like is that entirely too often it seems like Christians rip off whatever's popular. I don't follow the Christian music scene, but it seems that the only time I hear a decent song, it's some pop hit with Christian lyrics stuck in.
Why not make an ORIGINAL game with Christian concepts instead of blatant ripoffs? It can be "me-too" game, but the developers should come up with their own game rules to make the product stand on its own. |

Well, technically we would need another Asian style DDR, with a Christian theme. Obviously, it would need to have some sort of Asian influence, of the non-Buddhist variety
Like, say for instance, this asian kid.

You mean... Dance Praise is still going to be around over fifty years later? Wow, that's some staying power. _________________

I would say that this is a fine concept, especially if you have Jesusrave in the songlist. But I still believe that if one game is to stop the DDR series, then it would be ITG. |

First of all I'd like to say I was LMAO when I read the song list...if that were in fact the actual one I would go out and buy the game right now for sheer comedic value.
I took a look at that webpage and laughed a little figuring that it was a joke (ie Dance Dance Ressurection), but lolled when I finally figured out that it was serious. This just seems really unnessesary...I really don't like Christian music (I'm Pagan actually ) and IMO I don't think that's the kind of music you can dance to.
If Konami were to sue these people, I dunno, it just seems like a waste of time seeing how the only people who are gonna buy this game are parents for their 7-10 year old children because 'ZOMG DDR is t3h d3vi1!!!!' Is any serious dance gamer, Christian or otherwise, even going to waste their time with this game? I would highly doubt it.
And just a side note about Buddhism being a philosophy as opposed to a religion: Doesn't philosophy pretty much = religion in most cases? Not much of a difference. _________________

Aren't Cobalt Flux and Red Octane accessories merely peripherals, and not theft of DDR? |

All right, I got my review copy...
Interface is interesting, it's definitely not based off of anything else, it's not bad but it def lacks the flair of DDR mixes.
There's an announcer, he doesn't talk in-game, and usually just says supportive comments and announces the game choices.
There is no rating system on the songs, there are 3 difficulty levels but the only way to tell what songs are harder than others is to just play.
The game seems to default to reverse scroll, there is no way to choose mods (not that I was expecting this).
Obviously, this game is not that difficult, there is nothing harder than a 7-footer in DDR, but obviously difficulty probably wasn't a big issue with this. The step patterns seem to be on-sync for the most part, the timing is also surprisingly strict (at least in compared to what I was expecting), if not a little odd. The step patterns seem to make sense for the most part, there are some turns and pivots in some of the songs. I tried the easier difficulties and they seem to make sense, and are very appropriate for people who are not experienced in dance games. They should be able to learn from the patterns with no problem.
Also, when you play certain arrows have mods on them, most of them are score multipliers but there are things like "bombs" which eliminate all the arrows on screen, and some mods that make it more difficult, like a "smoke bomb" that covers the lower half of the screen (makes it like hidden). The lyrics scroll down from the top, I could see this getting annoying for some people but it didn't bother me.
Music is pretty good, there's a surprisingly broad range of genres here, from techno to pop to rock to rap. Even counting out the Christian base, the music is solid and appropriate. I didn't really pay attention to the lyrics (I usualy don't pay attention to lyrics in general unless I hear a song many times), but they all seem to have a good foundation. The techno was also pretty good. I haven't played all the songs yet, but I scrolled through the list and there wasn't anything that seemed that bad. I think the intended audience will be happy with the selection.
I haven't used the dance mat yet, when I get around to that I'll post comments, I'll probably also try it out with Stepmania and see how it holds up (I'm pretty sure this mat would work fine with the game since there isn't anything that demanding).
See, this game isn't for the "hardcore DDR player", but mainly just for families to have fun. Kids that start out on this will be satisfied and probably work their way up to the harder levels and be happy with that. There's nothing unnecessary in the step patterns, they're a little repetative if anything but in that way it also helps the player get used to a certain combination. In this aspect I say the game does a good job, it'd definitely be fun for youth groups and families. It's a solid game, it may seem like a cheap DDR-knockoff at first, but at least they're going for a certain market and doing a good job at that. Kids can listen to some positive music (which is a rarity in modern videogames), while playing a genuinely fun game.
So, all in all, it's a game that's meant to be fun, not difficult. Some people won't be able to accept this, I'd recommend those who are interested to look further into it though.
If anyone has any questions about the game, just ask! _________________

lolz. Stepping for the Lord. In my opinion, keeping it strictly holy should be best left to God's house: the Church.
Well...ummm...one potential upside about this: My church better throw one of these things in their program. =D |

Original Z, thank you for the review. My current skill level tops out around 7 or 8 foot songs, so this game sounds about right for me. I will probably order a copy this weekend. |

I'm sure my pastor would love to know about this, because his elementary and jr high age daughters will love this. But I dont really see this making it too far into the high-school and college age crowds like DDR has.
The track list looks horrible. All Over Me is the only one I can think of that sounds like a promising DDR track, and the majority of the ones I know are at least five years old. That's SAD. They could at least throw in some modern tracks from hit bands like Switchfoot and RelientK, and some upbeat punk and ska tracks.
It looks like Forefront Records just went through all their hit albums from the late 90s for this game. Yuck.
There are a few songs that I'd love to see in a DDR format, but none of them are the songs I know/have from that list. They could've at least included LoveLibertyDisco, lol.
This whole thing is stupid. I'm getting sick of the Christian scene making "Christian alternatives" to things, especially games like DDR that dont need fixing (last I checked, DDR was rated E for everyone). Besides, the whole allure of DDR is the challenge and the awesome Japanese tracks.
But then again, Konami cant even figure that last one out, what with them constantly throwing out arcade favorites for American crap-pop like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. _________________

p.s. Why are they displaying albums that arent even included?? To fill the little banner for the track list? John Reuben has only one song on it and they're showing two of his cds... _________________
