I played Pump It Up Exceed 2 today at UC Davis(California), first time playing Pump It Up in arcade ever >.>;. Was pretty awesome, play for about an hour and a half, hope to make more visits there, sadly driving an hour to it isn't so great _________________

I've been playing the console version for about 2 weeks now. I was getting tired of dance games but I'm glad I found something new - I enjoy the break from DDR. However, most of the songs I like on the home version aren't on the machine 30 minutes away. That, and I tire faster much faster playing PIU as opposed to DDR.
I can do about half the songs on hard, but I still can't figure out some of the step patterns. Since I can't slow the songs down, I guess I'll find a site with stepcharts... |

Same problems here , just gotta keep playing. I can almost beat Mr Lapus on Hard . There is only one song I know I can beat on Crazy which is First Love ( LOVE THAT SONG TOO!! <33333) _________________

I have a question for those who have purchased the American version of Pump It Up EXCEED for the X-BOX and PlayStation 2. Because the pad contains the cardinal arrows and plugs directly into the controller port, will it work on Dance Dance Revolution or in the groove? I don't think the pad will work on the Japanese DDR because the pad has no O button. _________________

I know the question wasn't directed towards PS2, but the PIU pad works fine with DDR games on PS2 >.>;(not sure about Japanese DDR mixes since I don't have) _________________

There's a simfile section that has just about every simfile from Premiere 1 to Exceed there. You should be able to find it with a little browsing.
And yes, they do, but they don't play as well as they do on KIU. The grading system's different and the freezes don't register the same way.
If you don't mind that though, go nuts. _________________

Trust me you do not want to use the Mad Catz PIU pad for DDR.
The up,down, left, and right arrow sensors are barely bigger than a wallet... the only way to make them bigger is to tear the pad apart, use something to carry the electric charge to a larger area... say foil (without it touching other sensors) but keep in mind both the top and bottom sensors must have this foil otherwise it won't work... also you'll need to put round holes into the thin foam inside the pad where you want the sensor area to expand... it's a long explanation so I won't bother saying anymore... |

I got this off the gamasutra website
http://gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=6687
Quote: |
-Publisher Mastiff has revealed the availability of the step editor for the Xbox version of its recently launched, Andamiro-developed dancemat title Pump It Up: Exceed. Free and available for download exclusively from Xbox Live, the step editor is exclusive to the Xbox version of Pump It Up: Exceed, and allows players to import their favorite music via Xbox Soundtracks and create their own choreography, and to create or modify steps for existing songs in the game.
|
Is this true? That if you have xbox live and dowload the editor and use your own music and create dance steps for them or am I just reading it wrong? |

Sure looks that way. Only catch is, I'm not sure if any of the XBL Exceed stuff is even available yet. I'm sure none of the new tracks are yet, at least. (I don't have Live; but I'm keeping the XB version in case I ever find someone who does. :P ) _________________

Only thing that's available is, indeed, the step creator. No music. Sads. _________________

What's the deal with this song editor? Can you make steps for your own songs? It sounds cool, but it would probably be a lot of work to make your own steps. Thanks for you help. |

Yes, you can make your own steps to your own songs: upload them from the Xbox hard drive(as taken from CDs or whereever), and use the built in BPM detector to clock the song's speed.
Making steps after that isn't tough at all. Definetly not if you're used to KIU or SM. _________________

What the hell's the deal with all of the Pump fan sites going kaput? PumpXtreme's URL squatting time ran out, Pump Core has been down... what's going on here?
Also, GameSpot actaully has full, correct (if one ignores their mention of Canon in the Xbox version) unlock info up.http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/puzzle/pumpitupexceed/hints.html _________________

pumphaven went down, too ( www.ph-online.net ) around that time.
Funny, within about a 24-hour period, all 3 of the major American Pump sites had went down, lol. But pumphaven's back up, and pumpcore got just enough bandwidth to at least get their Forums back up for now (no vids for awhile). Pumpxtreme, no one's expecting that one to come back, unfortunately. _________________

So, I noticed a pad-based game in the lobby of the theater. I was going to go down to the Trolley theaters for my flick, but I figured hey - I can get some DDR in and see it here for just $1 more.
So, I go in. It's a PIU machine. I figure - hey, it's music and arrows, how hard can it be?
I guess I did OK for a first timer, but still - reading is MUCH different, and to the guy who said he gets tired faster on PIU - well, duh. On DDR, you are moving much less than on PIU. Five step-areas, with the four cardinals at diagonals? Whose satanic idea was that?
Anyway, for those who've made the adjustment - how long did it take? Any advice? that theater is convenient, I'll be seeing other movies there. I'd like to not embarrass myself if I step on that machine again. _________________
