When you guys say that the arrows are broken or cracked, you obviously mean the panel right?
How are the sensors of the pad(s)? _________________

Right, the plexiglass panel is cracked.
The sensors feel fine to me. Never had a problem with them registering. That thin, foil sensor isn't going to cut it though. I need to do the sheet metal mod before it wears down and flakes out. |

Same here...I just covered the cracks with electrical tape until I can get them replaced...but the sensors still work perfectly right now. Hopefully they will last since my first one didn't |

Well here's good news from me.
Hello,
Thank you for the email. We have received the return back, and will process your
return in the next 5-7 days. We are currently back logged with returns. Sorry
for the delay.
Thank you,
Service RedOctane
That was my e-mail. So if anyone else is expecting a return just complain about it and I guess they get on it, hopefully. |

i can imagine RO loosing alot of money due to all of these defective pads. i hope they learn the cheaper and easier way of doing things is to do things right in the first palce.
and i have a question: is it allowed for me to make a thread that contains all of my pad research up till now on the more common and popular models? if yes then i will make one where people starting there research can start, continue or build off of. dont take my idea.
that is all

There's a sticky about different pads. Check it, and if you have something new, post it. _________________

Based on the quality of the pads, they're probably not losing THAT much. They were probably cheap to create and thus, aren't that great. _________________

i have a question, im trying to decide what to buy
1. Redoctance Afterburner $220 shipped
or
2. BNS Fusion Metal Dance pad $160 *no shipping* and Superjoy Plus off of lik-sang 12 dollars*no shipping*
i just downloaded stepmania and i love it, just one problem i dont have a dance pad that connects up to teh USB, so im going to buy a good metal dance pad that has USB compatibilty, that isnt too expensive. it came down to either the BNS Fusion and a Smartjoy Plus, or the RO AB. the BNS Fusion i heard is really durable and lasts a long time but its totaly flat! but the RO AB has recessed panels and has USB connectivity so i dont have to buy and Smartjoy Plus, but the soldering is crappy and the arrows MIGHT crack. i need a recommendation _________________

I've never heard of the BNS, but after reading this entire thread, I would never reccomend the AB. _________________

I admit the afterburner can get a few problems but mostly it works perfectly as long as you take good care of it. Mine got screwed up but they are getting a lot of returns and I'm sure they're fixing the problems. I say you should ask someone who never had problems before. |

I'm pretty sure that by BSN, he meant BNS. _________________

Thank you,
Service RedOctane
Did I just quote Sephiroth? No, it is the exact same reply I received from from Red Octane when I questioned the status on my exchange that they have now had for 35 DAYS! I composed a pre-planned, well-constructed letter asking them to explain several concerns that I raised and it is quite disappointed to be fed the form letter reply.
As I pointed out on my letter, I would rather give business to the companies who support our music games that we love rather than the megastores like Best Buy, but R.O. is making it difficult for me to be a repeat customer.
Hey Seph, Please post when you hear anything new or actually get your new pad. Thanks! _________________

I was wondering whether the afterburner is considered to be the second best metal pad (after the cobaltflux). If you don't think the afterburner is second best, which pad do you think is second best? Thanks for your input. |

I consider it to be the second best pad behind Cobalt Flux. _________________

Because the initial batch of Afterburners has had so many defects, it is hard to gauge how good of a pad it will be. My AB was great for the 2 weeks before it broke. I have used a TX-1000/3000? for 18 months and except for the occasional fixing of a wire, it continues to be very responsive. Right now, I would have a hard time ranking AB number 2 even over a TX based on my experiences. Maybe someone else who has had more time on their AB could give you a better idea. _________________
