|
|
When I play ITG at the arcade, I select a song and it lists a Speed (150) rating. I figure in this case that 150 is the BPM, and selecting 2.0 speed would change it to 300 bpm. However it seems much slower. Choosing C300 seems slower than 300 bpm as well. So how exactly do speed mods work in ITG? _________________

Exactly as you think they do. A song that's 110 BPM (e.g. Anubis) on 3x is exactly the same scroll speed as a song that's 165 BPM (e.g. Delirium) on 2x is exactly the same scroll speed as a song that's 330 BPM (e.g. Pandemonium) on 1x. However, because there isn't a score bar at the bottom of the screen, and because hallway is on by default, ITG speeds do feel slightly slower than DDR speeds. However, the math still works exactly like you expect it to. _________________

That's odd. I use Overhead, and C300 seemed nothing like Max300 speed. Oh well, thanks. _________________

That's because the arrows are easier to read + you're reading speed is prolly just getting better so it seems slower. _________________

Speed mods DON'T AFFECT THE SPEED OF THE SONG.
This is what I'm getting implied anyway. |

The default scroll speed is different for ITG than DDR,
because in ITG, a 300 BPM song scrolls slower because they cramp the arrows more together. _________________

ITG is like not made for 1xing. In fact ITG2's default speed mod is 1.5x. _________________

Yeah, on DDR I can mostly only do 400.
On ITG, C500 is too slow for some songs. It's either I got better on speed reading due to ITG or it is slower. I'm guessing the latter as it seems most likely though. _________________

Thanks guys. I usually aim for 300-350 BPM on DDR as well, I'll try 500-550 on ITG. _________________

Whenever you're in doubt, 2.5x is a pretty save bet as long as the song isn't much faster than 200bpm.... or if it has lots of 32nds.

That's pretty slow for me and a lot of people. 3-4x everything practically. 2.5x on 200BPM. 5x for anything lower than 100. _________________

I usually use 3, yeah. Pretty safe speed mod. On DDR I tend to use 2 or even 1.5. _________________

I too use 3x for most everything, but I still tell most people to use 2.5x.
However, three-ex can be a little too fast for some players to sightread with no bar and this counts doubly so when hands come into play.

I play most of the DDR songlist on 3x. ITG's 4x is the greatest thing since sliced bread as far as I'm concerned. Reading 600-650 BPM on ITG is a cake-walk. Ever tried the Far East Marathon on 4x? So fun. _________________

Far East on 4x might be fun until sudden turns on and it becomes unreadable |

Totally. The fact that ITG doesn't have a border on the bottom of the screen helps a bit, and also, ITG just seems to be easier to read. I routinely read about 550 in ddr, but I can do up to 680 pretty comfortably and 700+ with a bit of trouble on ITG. 4x HotN anyone? _________________

And don't forget Hallway lets you see slightly farther than overhead. In DDR, I play Legend of Max (333bpm) at 1.5x (=500), but in ITG, I can read Pandemonium (330bpm) at 2x hallway (= 660) just fine.

I read 400-500 in DDR, 450-520 in ITG, 680 on keyboard with the default theme, and 800 on keyboard with the ITG2 theme. |
