Does this game rate you for any Oni/ Nonstop courses (like how 8th Mix rates you for Pop4/More Light -ex-/Naoki neo-Standard) and are these flahed on the screen after a set of songs? | MAX2 doesn't have Nonstops, so that much is out. And while I don't have MAX2 myself, I'm reasonably certain that it has the rankings from the Arcade, meaning for Naoki Standard, Paranoia Bros., and Nearly=130.
Someone who actually owns the game will have to verify that for me. _________________

The song listings for each course are posted in the FAQ for Max2.
If you do not put your game on event mode then it will show you the ranks for the Oni courses both singles and doubles. _________________

DDR Max2 JP ranks the BeForU course instead of PARANOiA Bros, as there are five BeForU songs but only two PARANOiA songs. Unfortunately, all the BeForU songs are on Standard. :( Good for a warmup, though.

well I did, and it didnt answer my question, it just said what order they were unlocked in, not what you had to do to unlock them and at other sites they tell you how to unlock certain songs but not sakura, so I just wanted to know if there was anything special I had to do to unlock, like get so many A's and what not, like other songs. |

I've been considering purchasing a ps2 flip top full case mod (my ps2 is garbage, might as well beutify it), swap magic 3.6, and a DDR Extreme JP. I just want to verify that Extreme JP will work with Swap magic, before I blow 120 on all this. |

You can use speed unlocks or point unlocks to unlock all the songs and courses in the game. This is explained in the text before the unlock list. _________________

Ok, I read a lil something about this 10-15 pages back, heh, so I figure it'd be all right to post about it here. Because I'm still a bit unclear...I'm about to buy a jp ps2 and I realize it will play all jp ps2 games and that it should play all jp ps1 games, but will I need anything extra to play the ps1's? Also, I've heard complaints from others about some us ps1 games not working on their us ps2 and I was wondering if the jp games have any of the same problems.
Also a question for a friend of mine with swap disc...I've read a WHOLE LOT about making these imports work and I'm not sure he (nor I ) could handle any of it, heh. So in someone's opinion what ddr mix could he buy that will just work easily using his magic slide 2.0/3.0...if there are any.

Quick question. To anyone that owns Max and Max2 Japan. Are these puppies worth it on your opinion? I own Extreme Jp and Festival but these two are also interesting. Any comments would be appreciated. |

edschmoe - I don't know if the ddrmax2 is worth it, since a lot of the songs can be found on the US mixes, and the other songs were not all that great, but DDRMAX - heck yea! There's a lot of classics like bye bye baby balloon and Justify my love(and many others) that can't be found on any other games.
QUESTION: I don't want to skim through the last 20+ pages, so I'll just ask here. Is there any way possible to play a japanese ps1 game on a Slim-line PS2(outside of chip modding)? I'm trying to play DDR 5th mix, and it isn't working out with Swap magic because of the PS1 thing. Thanks! |

Yes, MAX1 is definitely worth it. =)
If you want to get an idea for yourself of what the songlists look like: start a game of DDR Extreme in your arcade, go to the songlist, sort by Genre and go to DDRMAX or DDRMAX2. The songs listed under each category are guaranteed to be in the Japanese home versions. The list you'll see for each is not a complete home-version song list, however--in both cases, quite a few songs are not listed. _________________
