Welcome!
I would suggest that you DON'T play www.blonde girl... it's too fast for someone just starting out in Heavy. I would start on slow BPM songs (130 or less) that are 6 feet or less. Songs like Cutie Chaser, Remember You, Baby Gimme Your Love, Let's Get Down, Let the Beat Hit 'em... stuff like that. And don't forget speed mods! |

Hey, glad to have you here, rayinzice!
You know, Slowpoke and nystargate have posted great lists of easy Heavy songs to pass in the Old Folks Accomplishment thread. Have a look for those. I swear it's making me nuts - I've looked for that list of songs for 15 minutes and can't find it. Well, maybe someone else will remember better or be able to search better than me. _________________

I can't remember exactly, but I THINK that list was about easy 7 footers. That'd be the next step up. But even better than that list: I think your progress would form the basis of a good list, because you're where rayinzice would like to be in a few months. Songs that you've been able to score well on would be a good place to start. |

The list was a list of my Heavy AA's - which can pretty well double as a list of the easiest Heavy songs.
Here it is again:
After The Game Of Love
Baby Baby Give Me Your Love
Be In My Paradise
Butterfly
Cutie Chaser (Morning)
Do It Right (Harmonized)
Dynamite Rave (Downbird)
Graduation
Groove
Happy Wedding
Higher
Jane Jana
Keep On Movin'
Kind Lady
La Copa De La Vida
Let The Beat Hit 'Em
Let's Get Down
Look To The Sky (True Color)
Put Your Faith In Me
Remember You
Sexy Planet (Oni)
So In Love
Stay (Organic House)
Think Ya Better D

AuntieM--Thanks for the list of songs. I did find V on DDR Extreme. I only play that game. At my age (I'm probably the oldest of us old folk post here), weight, and klutziness, there's no way I'm going to an arcade. V is great.
After playing for about six weeks, I'm still suck on Beginner--I am getting A stars and AA stars. But, when I go to Light--it's just too fast. Danburi suggested Kick the Can and Only You and those two songs I can do in Light.
Anyway, I'll keep plugging along. Are there any other threads to check out on the Forum? I feel so old--I can't understand the game speak on some of the threads.
One other question: Do any you use Stepmania and play off of your PC? If so, is it hard to set up?
Thanks!

As long as you get the right adapter, it's not hard at all. |

I just finished my evening workout on DDR and the endless mode gave me 5 perfect Light songs to start with. Then, after the break, up comes Paranoia Max and lets just say I did not even 10 steps.
But I thought of LittleLulu with 4 of the 5 first songs. One you were already told about, Only You, but here are 3 others that you should try in Light. Don't Clock Me: it is 124 bpm and there are not jumps
Firefly: at 150 bpm but it is rated a 1 footer, there is 1 jump and
some freeze arrows but they are great training (& easy)
Highs Off U: 130 bpm and it is also rated at 1.
There are 7 Beginner songs I still have not done in the game and 13 in Light. The lowest scores I have are B's but I try to not play the game until I can get a reasonable score (the Training mode gets used alot). I have only competed one Standard song and, no surprise here, it was "Only you" which is rated at a 4.
As for age, I will admit to being 47 (48 in two weeks) and weigh right around 180 (I do not weigh myself very often, this was from last Nov and I know I have not really dropped anything yet). Regarding the clutzy part, sometimes I know that I must look riddiculous when I get off beat, but my old dance/gymnastics/skiing skills kick in so I have at least not fallen down yet.
Just keep plugging and don't get frustrated with others doing better than you. (Some where on either this area or the other old folks section (accompishments), is a photo from when a bunch of them meet in NY and most of them are really skinny. So of course they can jump around easier (except when the joints protest).) |

Costumer, I am skinny now but I was 40 pounds heavier when I started By eating healthy and DDR, I was able to lose it. And since I am still playing DDR almost everyday (mostly at home) I am able to keep it off. I may be able to play harder songs but not because Iâm skinny, Iâve been playing for almost 2yrs. I am prime example of anyone can play DDR if you play long enough. Iâm 47 too by the way, will be 48 this year, fellow year of rooster |

Just wanted to bring back this thread on 1st page
Iâm new to Stepmania thing. I was able to download most of Extreme arcade song files in last a few days. I did copy and pasted the Arcade timing setting, and still I think I have timing problem. I adjusted âGlobalOffsetSecondsâ from default 0.100000 to 0.090000.
Iâm not sure if that is the right setting though. I only tried with keyboard so far. I need to try it with pad. Have anyone adjusted this setting |

I thought the default on the globaloffset was supposed to be zero. Did you get this .ini from someone else? |

Hey folks - there's a whole thread on SM timing settings: http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=95076
It looks like there are different choices based on which mix you want.
I just thought of another easy Extreme song that makes you feel good because it's a 5-footer but really straightforward: Do Me. Hard to explain the name to the kids, though. Along those lines another favorite song is Little [B-word] - not the Extreme version but the one by Bus Stop that's also called One,Two. A terrific song, but the kids yell "BEEP" really loud the one time they say the B-word.
Nothing for me today - had a good day playing with a friend yesterday, even though two of the eight pads we were playing on had broken sensors on the left side. I didn't realize that each arcade pad has four sensors (if I understand correctly). You can touch each of the four sides of a single pad/arrow and see which sensors aren't working. Then, if you really care, you can try to adjust your stepping accordingly. Or you can just take the misses and console yourself with the fact that "These pads suck." _________________

I did changed setting before and now I donât remember what was originally Iâll try zeros and see.
DO ME is one of the song itâs difficult to get the beat but I do ok since I know the music from back in Japan. That was the theme song for one of the comedy show |

I think the real debate over there concerns whether or not to base the timing windows on actual "time", or to base it on math involving the 60 frames per second that the game is displayed at. Personally, I use the one with the slightly smaller timing windows, because if anything, I'd rather have home be a little bit tougher than the arcade. One thing though: in some of those posts, they show a judgewindowscale of .66000... this is wrong. It should always be one, and you should make sure that within your stepmania options, you have the judge difficulty set to the default value of 4.

I've got a worse one... when Derek and I were playing old mixes last weekend, I played "Oh Nick Please Not So Quick", and Derek tells me, "I don't like the song, but I like the name of it"

The one I use is -.02... but these values are very specific to your computer. But I can tell you that anything as high as .10 or .09, like you're using, is really, really high, and I don't think that could be right. Zero might not be the best for you, but it'll definitely be better than .09 |

So, what positive and negative numbers move to Does Negative make arrow come up later then default? I think my arrow is coming before the beat. I need to put back in default and check again if beat is before or after the arrows. |

If you haven't switched it back to zero yet, this make sense. Positive numbers make you step earlier, and negative numbers make you step later. |

Thanks
Iâll check it tonight
Edit: Ok, I settled on 0.025000. It's much better then before. And if I play in light, I do full combo with high AA. When I play on Standard and heavy, great count multiply. Which is normal for me |
