Just imagine in gym class they'll be doing MAX 300 18 times. |
Or So Deep 20 times with a requirement to FC it at least once (500 steps). |
Hell no would they do that. Have you seen people who have never played ddr try? There is no way they would be able to do that at first. That would be a good PE final, like at the end of the year you have to be able to AA So Deep and FC Max 300. |

For some people that would prove too difficult. You can't just force them to play DDR and get progressively better. To pass songs like PSM and LoM, there's a certain barrier you have to break down, and the barrier is different for different people. For example, the barrier for me to start being able to do well on 9 footers was I had to practice spins and turns a lot harder, etc.
DDR should not be in school. I don't think Phys. Ed. in schools are rigorous enough...you need to train hard enough so that you can pass the mile run and things. And I think it needs to be much more rigid: if you don't finish the mile in the required amount of time, or at least get to a certain heart rate, you fail, plain and simple. And I think you should have to take gym class every school year all year. Running, playing sports, or just doing exercise in general is not stressed enough, and I think you can have things like field trips to go play DDR or to places like Bally's, but overall physical education needs to be stressed much more in all 12 grades of school. Dancing the macarena like we did in 5th grade and playing dodgeball does not cut it. _________________

Yeah, I wish my school had DDR. That'd get me to join Gym. Haha, but I don't want to leave J-ROTC. I like ROTC. _________________

I personally think that DDR in school/PE isn't really a good idea, unless you have other forms of PE, like weight lifting or whatever. I mean, sure, DDR is a good cardiovascular and lower body workout, but what about the other muscles? |

As longs as a couple bats and some baseballs cost less than a DDR machine, no school with a resonable budget would have DDR. schools would mabye have some sort of DDR club at most _________________

The lack of enthuisism mostly comes from being in school. Have you read Why Nerds are Unpopular? The second half of the article brings brilliant insight into why kids are so unmotivated that they get fat, do drugs, comit crimes, etc. Or perhaps Maddox's opinionson football players. These articles all point to the same thing. Kids are almost completely disconnected from the world. The reason they aren't interested in the physical fitness facilities that are currently in place is because they don't have the self esteem to really use them. |

lol that be awsome if every school had it and it was considered as a sport... "Crockett High School Vs Travis High School , Come Support your school it will be PERFECT ATTACK on MAX Unlimited! Come now!, only $1.00 " There would be tournaments between schools |

yah i dont think it would be that hard to get ddr into schools even w/ a machine... the only problem would be how many machines they need. one machine wouldn't be a problem (for a public school); it would raise taxes in the district like umm im guessing 50 cents or something (a family or whatever) but if multiple machines were needed (which would be a lot more practical for a pe class) i can definately see how it would get expensive. |

Plus most schools are already cutting arts programs from their budget because the California deficit and all that.
Plus the budget is getting lower and lower for schools and the education system. _________________

I live in Santa Barbara, California, and there are three high schools around here. One of the ones I didn't go to actually had a DDR program for PE. My friend was in it. She said that they used DDRMAX and soft pads with a bunch of consoles. Damn. I'm jealous. Maybe high school wouldn't have been such a waste of time...oh wait, DDR is a waste of time. At least it's a waste of time I enjoy. |

I think DDR in-school is a good idea. Infact, I thought it was such a good idea with a couple of friends that we started a DDR activity. We got our lacrosse coach to proctor the activity and he got really interested and told the athletic director and they're now thinking about getting DDR for summer footwork training, depending on the leftover budget at the end of the year. At my school PE stops in upper school so every semester they require you to either play one sport or have two activities approved for PE credits and our DDR activity is now one of them. _________________

What about the kids that didn't like it? DDR in PE would create a whole new "sport" kind of standard, and the kids who sucked would get picked on and... eh they could go to DDR summerschool if they couldnt even pass a six footer lol.
Interscholastic DDR... awesome _________________

Got damn, I thought I was going crazy when I saw this...hella old. I guess if people can contribute with new thoughts, I won't ask for a lock.
Anyway, my stance then is the same now.
You're going to open up a pandora's box if you start having DDR competitions between the schools, because then other kids who aren't good at DDR will want CvS2 leagues, SSBM leagues, etc.

One of the most impressive DDR performances I've seen in person was by a guy who was at least 10 or 15 pounds overweight. Afronova, Dynamite Rave, and Paranoia Rebirth. AA on all of them. Hella yeah. Leave fat people alone. They rock. |
