lolz, this essay was quite inciteful. i have never seen this much devotion to any game ever. and for a stanford student to write this makes it all the more hella cool. _________________

I can't find myself to agree with the thesis of the essay: "CPR for the arcade culture". As said before the fighting game culture has been around longer in the arcades and in many arcades that can actually be considered good - that culture is still in existence.
The author seams to be missing the point that arcade culture can't survive with bad arcade management. Once the initial Street Fighter 2 craze died down, only good arcades were able to keep customers competiting with each other. I think I might send Alex Chan the www.shoryuken.com articles about arcades. |
