That's the same pad as a CG pad, which is listed on the first post of the first page of this thread. erm.gif

That's kookytalk! laugh.gif Like I mentioned before though (on a serious note), if you (as in you = a prospective metal pad buyer) are worried about customer service or the pad failing, I'd recommend going with a RO or CF pad because both have good customer service (or so I've been told). That's a safe route to go, but again, you're paying extra for that customer service, so, that's your (prospective metal pad buyer) choice... E13.gif

well....being the risk taking metal pad buyer as i am, i think i'll buy the judysdeals pad and see what happens. if i don't get DOA, i'll mod it and make it almost as good as a RO with 100 dollars less. the customer service doesn't bother me. i can always ask my many buddies on DDRfreak for advice or help. plus judysdeals actualy does have a warranty on their pads. i think its one month after the receipt is cashed in which is right after they ship it i think. AND THEY PAY FOR SHIPPING MONEY BACK AND FORTH!! E4.gif no refunds though...u can only get another one of their pads and hope to god that it isn't another DOA...

My opinion is if the pad is going to break it's going to be in the first two monthes. I also had a bad time with Judy's deal in the past shipping. But a 30 day warrenty for about 30 bucks more (BNS) makes me breath easier, I have yet to recieve mine, but that's my opinion.

Of course you're kinda crazy if you don't consider the mod, it's not a complex one and just strengthens the pad. So in the end the best choice no matter what you get is to do a the mod and pray for good luck. As tek's MMB mod guide kinda points out almost everything is preventable, and even more is repairable, so you just need to think ahead.

that seems very true. although sometimes pads can be reliable until later on when they get older. of course if its old enough it's played out its worth and its time to get another one, but most of the time it jus dies out cuz of bad manufacturing. how bad usually determines the life of the pad

Maybe their order process is backed up or something or the product may be out of stock. You can attempt to email or call about your order. Its coming from Cali, so whenever its shipped, its going to take 5-7 days to get to Florida. Probably a lil bit longer if the weight of the product limits its transport.

Yep I am. ;-)

Kinglink and Zing: How are your BNS pads? Are they as good as you expected? Anything bad about them?

Questiona bout modding: Is the BNS pads squares 10" x 10" or is it another size? How hard is it to cut 30 gauge sheetmetal with tin snips?

And another question: Do BNS pads have the triangle and square butotns (on the back of the pad; like some other pads) or do they not? I need to know so I know whether or not to get 2 more square feet of 30 gauge sheet metal.

Thanks.

I think someone said they only covered as much area the aluminum foil covered and not necessarily the whole btm of the arrow. So it maybe be less than 10"x10". When I got a 2'x3' ft sheet metal, I swore i only used 2' x 6" of it, with plenty to spare. The sheet metal isn't all that difficult to cut.

Well, I went to my Home Depot just now. And they don't have 30 gauge galvonized sheet metal. Is that the only one I can use? Or is there others I can use.. Here are the ones that they have. Which one would be the 2nd-best for me?

-Sheet Metal Aluminimum 18x12 - ($5.00)
-Sheet Metal 16 Gauge 18x6 Plain ($5.71)
-Sheet Metal 22 Gauge 18x12 Plain - $6.74)
-Sheet Metal 26 Gauge 18x12 Zinc ($4.37)
-Sheet Metal 26 Gauge 36x24 Zinc ($19.88)
-Sheet Metal 26 Gauge 12x24 Zinc ($3.68)

What do ya think I should get since I cant get 30 ga. galvonized sheet metal?

The higher guage the better. I had a difficult time finding a gauge over 26 at my local stores and major chains like lowes or home depot. If you goto homedepot.com and look for sheet metal. They have a 30 gauge 2'x3' sheet metal for $6.00 for online order. Much cheaper than ones I could find at retail stores. The only downside is that I think its ground is the only type of shipping offered. It shipped from TX when I ordered there.

No HOME DEPOT HAS 30 GAUGE! They just don't know it. This is my main problem with that chain.

Go to the plumping section and look around on the floor (bottom shelf) they will have 30 gauge Galvanized Sheet Metal. Here's the problem. Almost no one there knows where everything in that store is unless its in their exact station. Don't be afraid to ask three or four people about this. It's a pain in the butt but someone will know. It may make you look like an idiot but you'll find it.

Three guys tried to give me ALUMINUM! Aluminum instead of sheet metal? Believe me, it looks so similar, it's more expensive at mine, it's NOT worth it. Now if they say "speak to Tom at the service desk" and there's two guys at the service desk, speak to Tom, I almost bought aluminum because I spoke to the other guy (names can change) Usually you'll have to find the person with the 5 years or more experience because he will actually know the store. And there's usually only a couple guys who will know. Don't pester one guy with the same question, it's not worth it.

Sorry about ranting but Home Depot is great, but if you don't know where stuff is.... It sucks. Check that plumbing department.

Ok the BNS pad is great after I modded them, one screw on the top had head damage (the part where you insert the driver) so it was hard to remove. pain in my butt, but not major. The squares are about 10"X10" but you'll want to cut your sheet metal to about 9.5"x9.5" make it look good you know?

To cut the 30 gauge sheet metal with tin snips (all purpose snips) isn't hard (it's like a knife through butter) but to warn you, you're hands will likely get ripped up, sheetmetal splinters and will rip your hands a new one if your not careful. I have like three or four slashes from it (the first two cuts are the worst of course)

The BNS pads do NOT have 8 buttons, just 6.

Btw I didn't use it much unmoded. In the unmoded state is it less responsive? or is the mod for strengthening the plastic or both?

Now that I'm done (Btw it took me about 3 hours to do all the pads and understand what I'm doing, your milage may vary but make sure you have a good amount of time. ) I'm going to go enjoy my new pads *smiles*[/quote]

So, you're 100% sure the plumbing section has 30 gauge sheet metal? Why would they have it there instead of the roofing section (which is where the other sheetmetal was)

The worst that can happen is you waste a trip, but that's where I been told to look "where you can find stuff for ducts (not tape)" was what my father said first, but I found in in an isle with toilets and sinks. so ...

I did, and they told me that the only place that had it was the ducts/roofing section... And whatever was there was all they had... if Kinglink is true, then what they're saying is BS. >_<

i have a question about the sheet metal....i found some 26 gauge at home depot...but their all in huge rolls like 50 feet long!! frust.gif how the hell am i supposed to use the extra f**cking 45 feet of sheet metal??!?!?!?!?

Oh by the way if u think about it if one square of sheet metal for one arrow is 10" by 10" then wouldn't six arrows be 60" by 60"?? so then the entire sheet metal proportion should be about 5 feet by 5 feet right????

also, about the rolls, i haven't seen any questions about how to pound them flat. the sensitivity will change if the sheet metal is curved cuz parts of it touch earlier than other parts. but hammering it will jus make huge dents in the sheet metal right??? does anyone know where to get jus big flat sheets of sheet metal?

Well, 10 inch by 10 inch isn't far off from 12x12, so let's round it there so I can tell you it easier. 12" x 12" is 1' by 1'.

If one square arrow is 1 square feet (by doing A=LW; 1x1=1) then you will need 6 square feet right? Well, on the MMB mod site, it tells you to get 3' by 2'.. That's correct, because A=LW; 3x2 = 6) So, with 3' by 2' of sheet metal, you should get enough for 6 arrows...

If you had 5' by 5' of sheet metal, then you would have enough for 25 arrows.. (Since 5x5 = 25; 25/1=25)

Hope that help, and didn't confuse you more.. But what I'm saying is 2' by 3' is exactly what you need.. You shouldnt need 5'x5' unless you're modding 25 arrows. E1.gif
