I'm sure I'm messing this up, but this option exists in every DDR game I've ever played.
Options -> Controller Settings -> Dance Play -> Turn them OFF and X/O/Triangle/Square won't respond in game. (As arrows, that is.)

i have max2 and can't find the controller options to edit the controls. can some one help me?

It wasn't any rocket science to tear apart my pad. All i did was make a small cut in the green fabric and then just tear it right off. The sensors are a god inch away from the green part of the pad, on the sides. The top and bottom are about 1/2 inch but it still should be a problem as soon you start ripp off the green stitching.
