Well, I just read the first 2 pages and this last page, and I am rather intrigued. But, I do have one question (hope it wasn't answered in one of the pages I skipped):
Are you still planning to have each platform come apart into 9 squares?
If so, won't this help with the storage problem and also the shipping price because it won't be so bulky?

BTW, I think that the way they attach should be something like 12 screws. That way, you'd be certain that they won't serparate during play.

The frame will most certainly be made of metal, but I don't think we're going to be able to continue with the snap-apart design. I've gotten a better idea of just how strong this thing needs to be, and with that in mind, the modular design just won't be possible.

So yes, it's been discussed and dealt with.

I think for storage, it'll just have to be leaned against a wall: that's what I do with my current pads.

As for shipping, it would actually be less with one solid piece than with smaller pieces, since the parts for attaching the 9 squares together wouldn't need to be included.

The contract is damn near complete, should have more info soon...

Is this project dead or something?

No, but at this point, it would be safer to assume it is.

Our designer tried to screw us over with the contract, so we're going elsewhere to have the pad designed. In the meantime, let this thread sink for a while. If we can find another designer who can handle it (and we think we have) I'll post about it, but not until I have a prototype and some pictures.

Like I said, no one get excited: this may very well not happen, but I'll bump this thread if it does. In the meantime, let it fall into the lower recesses of the boards.
