That sucks about the effector.. most of the time I can't even hear IIDX unless I put on surround 1. Also sucks not being able to mess with the volume yourself, since some songs (Silvia Drive, Halfway of Promise) are a lot more piercing than usual. _________________

Someone kill me now.
But, yay for harder L7 songs. Though, the addition of a gospel song will make me want to die forever... Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... *dies* _________________

The gospel song is actually not too bad, at least what I could hear of it. _________________

Heh, I'm sure it is good. There is rarely a song... if ever... in IIDX that I don't like. =D It was just a little awkward for me to hear that there was a gospel song in it... is all. Heh... _________________

BTW, effector is gone for good. My arcade put a sign on the machine saying that Konami took it out of the game; no reason was given, but if I had to guess it MIGHT have to do with perhaps people complaining about IIDX machines being too loud. It's a bunch of crap, I know, but I guess some arcades might have refused to buy 9th unless the effector was eliminated. That much is just speculation, but it seems as if there is no option whatsoever in the service menu to turn it on, so I hope your guys' arcades will turn up the default volume more than my arcade has :-(. |

Oogami128 wrote: | BTW, re: extra stages and whatnot: extra stages are still earned in the normal fashion. You don't have to AAA a 7+ or anything to get an extra stage this time around. | There's a difference between getting Extra Stage and getting the "official" Extra Stage.
Extra Stage:
Full-great a 4 -OR-
FC a 5 -OR-
100% a 6 - OR-
Pass a 7
Official Extra Stage (e.g. Sakura on a non-unlocked IIDX 8th)
AAA a flashing 7 on Hard + Another
(And to get Xenon, you have to AAA Sakura Hard + Another, I think) Oogami128 wrote: | However, if Paranoia Survivor Max IS in the game (and I am still not entirely convinced it is, until I see some hard proof at either my arcade or from Konami), I guess you have to pull off some ridiculously high score to unlock it, though I'm sure once the unlock code surfaces that probably won't be much of an issue anymore. | Does AAAing a flashing 7 on Hard + Another count as a "Ridiculously high score"?
And does anyone know if they changed the "official" Extra Stage condition? Made it easier, maybe, or made it so you had to play a specific song (like MAX 300 on 7th Style)? _________________

Does PSM have the same bpm changes as those in Extreme, or does it run at a steady 290 bpm? |

A whole bunch of stuff.
| I think what JustJeff meant was what songs that had been taken out of the IIDX playlist by 8th Style were resurrected for 9th, since that was one of 9th's big selling points (since 7th Style and lower is very hard to find in arcades these days, and a bunch of old songs were taken out for 8th). So yeah, all the songs you listed are old songs that are in 9th style, but a good number of them were in 8th, too.

I guess only time will tell, or maybe by the time you guys get the game an unlock code will already have been released, so it won't really matter anymore. _________________

Actually, that's exactly what I wanted.
Since I RARELY get to play IIDX arcade and the closest machines are 5 and 6 hour drives away, the old songs are important to me because there are a bunch of 7th and 8th Style songs I've not played yet. Not to mention the ones I've only played at home. I can't wait to try Checking You Out 7 Key so that I can see if my scratch problems are related to the fact that I can't scratch or to the small size of the standard Konami IIDX controller.
MBS2012 was rumored to be in the game and it was a selectable choice on the poll Konami ran last year for returning songs in 9th Style. I just wanted confirmation for if it was in or not. Besides, it was only like a 2 or 3 star song I think when it was in IIDX. So it's not biggie. Just something to look forward to when/if I ever get to play 9th. |

I would like to see a video of someone AAAing Checking You Out 7key. That song is just ridiculous... I thought that I knew exactly how the scratches would go from listening to the song... but, no, it's like you have to have some amazingly fast wrist action to hit it. I seriously doubt it is the Konami controller not being able to read it... because if you just scratch openly into nothing fast, you can see that it reads every change in direction. Well, at least it seemed like it... I hope it does... I hope that only C in 4th style is a just one... X_x Well, the other thing that prevented me from getting a higher grade was the fact that I had to play those crazy fast scratches on HS1 instead of the HS3 that I should be able to use, because of that retarded doubling of BPM at the end of the song. Who's bright idea was that one? Just double the BPM for no reason to make everyone mad? Blah... _________________

Oh yes it is!
I'm not sure what moon_child sounds like, or if it sounds anything like real post rock, but if it does then I will be very impressed with Konami.
Post-rock is generally heavy on instruments, with simple base melodies as short as three notes extended into an entire symphonic songs which often stretch to ten, twenty, or even thirty minutes. Having lyrics is optional.
It's tough to explain, but if you listen to some of it you'll get a feel for it. Here's a few bands/songs I recommend:
Mogwai - Mogwai Fear Satan, Christmas Steps, Yes! I Am A Long Way From Home, Summer (Priority Version), Cody
Sigur Ros - Staralfur, Untitled Track 01, Untitled Track 04
Godspeed You Black Emperor! - The Dead Flag Blues, Storm, Static
A Silver Mount Zion - Broken Chords Can Sing A Little, This Gentle Heart's Like Shot Birds Fallen, The Triumph Of Our Tired Eyes, Sisters! Brothers! Small Boats Of Fire Are Falling From The Sky! _________________

Who's bright idea was that one? Just double the BPM for no reason to make everyone mad? Blah... | Actually, I find that once you beat Checking You Out, you never fail it again, kinda like riding a bike. I was convinced that the song was impossible on a home controller for the longest time until I just sat down one day, went into training mode, and kept playing it on speed 3 and 4 until I could pass it with a 100%, and then I passed it on default every time. I found that my biggest problem usually was that I was scratching too FAST, not too slowly, so I would get a whole bunch of extra scratches in that would all count as poors and sink my groove like a stone. Just keep at it and you'll get it. It IS possible.
BTW, I think Checking You Out got an another in 9th Style. I thought I saw someone playing it last time I went to the arcade. I didn't think much of it at the time until I went home and remembered that CyO in 4th stops at 7 Key. I'll confirm it one way or the other next time I go to the arcade (or if someone finds info about it on a site somewhere before I can get back, which is very likely since I'm on a budget this month). _________________

Actually, it didn't seem to be that much more difficult, just more chords and such, which is why I'm hesitant to say that it really IS in there (I may have just thought it said another). But I think I'll make tonight my arcade night for this week, so I'll find out one way or the other if it's really in there. _________________
