No, that wouldn't work for you unless you have an apple laptop of some sort (and I'm not sure there's any real Stepmania or DWI for apple yet)
But back to basics - what kind of TV do you have?
Where are you plugging your yellow composite (RCA) cable into the TV at? Is it labelled Video 1 or some other name?
Are you switching your TV to the proper video source to match your input? (Example: You plugged the yellow cable from the laptop into the back or front of your TV's yellow input - did you switch to the video source that uses that input?)
Trying channel 3,4,96,etc won't work for you, as you're not using a RF level input so you would have to switch to the right video mode.
If you happen to have component inputs (Red, Green, Blue) you could get a VGA to component cable for under $20 (as long as your TV supports sync on green or sync on Y)
But ideally, you should just be able to plug either an S-video cable or RCA cable from your laptop right into your TV and have it work. |

Just buy a really cheap ATi card. The 64mb non-pro 9000s are as cheap as $50. Or you could buy a PCI All in Wonder VE even.... |
You missed the part about the LAPTOP.... _________________

ok heres the deal, i plug a wire from the out to the in on my VCR, set it to line then start messing around with the laptop, after 20 minutes of fiddling it just would work, i gave up hope and decided to hold fn and hit LCD/CRT, nothing happens, i try again nothing happens, then i hit the button repeatetly as letting my anger out on the laptop, GRRR POUND POUND </anomotapia>, and i bang my head on the table still holding my fingers down on the lcd/crt buttons, BZZZT a buzzing noise startled me.... i look up and i hear the words, DDR MAX! out of my speakers! i look up and gasped, ITS ON THE TV OMG ITS ON THE FLIPING TV! THANK YOU GOD, turns out holding the keys down allows it to search for the source! allitle resolution tweak and i was set! WOO HOO! thank you all very much for helping me out, ive solved my problems so go ahead mods, do whatever you want with this thread, later all! _________________

Or does the TV do flips? How can you see the arrows if it's jumping around all over the place? Anyway, I think it's time I got my mandatory 4 hours of sleep

I was just google searching and stumbled upon this thread, and I wanted to find out how to hook stepmania to a TV. Can someone show me a photo of where I plug it in to the computer? And can someone recommend a good PC-->TV converter for under 130 bucks? (RCA plugin please) |

In my experience, Composite generally sucks for PC output. S-Video is a lot better. _________________

Agreed. S-Video works best for me too.
Shouldn't this thread by in the PC and Simulators forum though? _________________

It was here in 2003, and maxx freak just recently bumped it. Yes, it should be there, but until he sees this response, I'm not putting it over there just yet. _________________

Can I ask a little something?
I have a Win XP computer with good RAM, HDD and all the stuff to run Doom 3 on it. I have an Avermedia box plugged into a third party crappy USB 2.0 card.
I have a better Flat Panel LCD monitor (19") for my computer than I do in my bedroom (15"). So here I have my PS2 hooked up to my Avermedia box and I change the input source of the Avermedia software to SVideo or Composite and all I get is a black screen. I get sound though.
In the past, before the software upgrade I was able to view DDRMax and Max2 on my Avermedia and play it on there. It did not work with Konamix or Disney Mix though so that was when I decided to upgrade the software. And now, not even the cable input works for video. I get sound for everything so I know it's there. _________________

Hey I said I was google searching, I didn't mean to actually search for a thread, it was just convenient. |

Hey guys!
Lets practice!
FUCKING!
Yep.
Anyway, what would I need if I have an S-Video Output on my computer, and an S-Video Input on my TV?
Some Audio cable thing? My TV has a Headphone port, which is where I plug in my speakers, if that means anything. _________________
