Personally, I like Extreme Arcade the best. The home versions ... |

I think trying to mess with the main boards would be much harder.

It's the best way to do it, trust me.
Then, drill holes in the small contacts (they are huge, so its really easy)

first, the ebay+ddrgame = huge POS. don't even think about it
As for the cost, if you are just building 1, the cost is maybe $130-140, and you can easily build 2 pads for $150-200 because of the 4' ... |

You probably could have just put this in the homepad thread though.
How much did you sell it for?
What type of sheet metal did you use? |

There is no way the BlueShark compresses 1/4 of an inch..even 1/8" is a little stretch.
The 3" model I played on compresses about a few millimeters, ~1/16"

So, you can always ask friends for ... |

What about adding a very small (1/4") border of either wood or cardboard or something around the edge of the pad to lift up so it doesn't hit the buttons as much? |

An easy fix for Afterburners is just to cut a new lexan panel on top of the original ones. Of course, that requires about 20 bucks and time to cut the panels (which still is cheaper than CFs) |

Yeah, some adapters can get around that by holding L+R+Select and that "unlocks" it. I never had luck with that though.
I just build my own and wire them to buttons so it doesnt matter. |
