Yeah, it works like MST3k and other stand up, where you can use the products image and name as a reference, but don't need to pay anything.

And to avoid legalities they can hide some of the image. ...

www.gameskins.com has the DDR shirt called "Revolutionary." It's got the two sets of arrows with Japanese on the front (I'm guessing it says Revolutionary).

Yeah. There's a used game store (not Funcoland) that has about 10 third-party pads stacked up that customers traded in for credit. All of them have issues.
